Barbara C. Denning

Barbara C. Denning It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on November 27, 2018 of our beloved Barbara Ann Denning (Coats), 89. She was born on July 23, 1929 in El Dorado, Arkansas and moved to Wichita with her family at the age of three. She attended school in the College Hill area where she developed an unbreakable bond with six dear friends. Their close-knit group grew to be known as the Fab Seven or Seven Up. Soon thereafter, Barbara married and began raising her family of three beloved childrenDiane, Denise, and Drew. When the children were young, she dedicated her talents and creativity to the Junior League of Wichita, taking great pride in her commitment to improving her community through the development of strong female leaders. Barbaras desire to grow and drive to flourish spurned a leap into the corporate workforce at a time when it was difficult for women to do so. She soon established a place for herself as quality control secretary for Pizza Hut, Inc. (Pepsico), where she worked for 25 years until retirement. After retiring, she volunteered for hospice, giving her warmth and generosity of spirit to those who needed it most. Throughout her life, Barbara studied the Bible, developing a strong fellowship of like-minded friends. She had a passion for a great many things, not the least of which included playing bridge, dressing to the nines, sharing great stories, and shopping. Barbara was a social butterfly that never met a stranger, had an incredibly infectious laugh, and never left the house without a coat of flawless lipstick. Barbara has been an ever-present gift in the lives of her grandchildrenMaggie, Adrienne and Joshua. In recent years, she has bestowed copious amounts of love on her two great-grandchildren, Sadie and Holden. We would like to thank the staff of Larksfield Place for their endless devotion to the care and comfort of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Your partnership and guidance throughout the years has been invaluable. Memorial Service at 1 pm, Monday, December 3, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church Chapel. 2. So sorry to hear about Barbaras passing. She was such a sweet lady. I would usually see her when I went to visit her friend (my mother-in-law), Montana Newkirk, at Larksfield Place. We lost Montana just three weeks ago and Im sure she was there to greet Barbara at her homecoming with a big smile.

  3. I am so very sad to lose this beautiful and so funny godmother. I have enjoyed so many laughs with her, not to mention to love, support and encouragement. She will truly be missed. Go with God Barb your memory lives on. Prayers and hugs to the family.
