Dolores F. Schonberg

May 27, 2020 ~ November 16, 2013
Schonberg, Dolores, 85, of Wichita died Saturday morning at Wesley Hospital following a short illness. She was born in Akron, Ohio on May 27th, and shared this birthday with both her Mother and her Sister. She married her husband of 64 years Richard the day after she graduated from Ohio State University. Shortly after, they moved to Wichita where Richard entered into a very successful practice in Podiatry, and Delores worked as an Occupational Therapist, starting the Occupational Therapy Department at St. Francis Medical Center. She left her career to raise her three beloved children. Delores was always involved in community work through the Wichita Art Museum and the Institute of Logopedics now known as HeartSpring. Always involved with her children, she was mostly known for her cookies, her gardening, and her ability to turn anything into a song. For many years Dolores taught a private aqua aerobics class in her backyard for no charge, just friendship. After the workout she could be found floating in the pool, unassisted in a seated position, with a glass of wine. She and her husband took joy in traveling the world experiencing everything their destinations had to offer. She also presided weekly over “Annas Party” which was held Friday evenings with her family and special friends Pam and Donna. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard Schonberg, their 3 children Jeff (Jane) Schonberg, Kathi (Doug) Stark, Vicki (Ken) Zuber, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, two cats Squeeks and Cleo. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, November 19 at the family home from 5 to 7 p.m. to share your favorite memories of Delores. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
