Georgia Maud Sturn

Sturn, Georgia Maud, 100, retired licensed practical nurse, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at a Wichita nursing home. Service, 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 25, Downing Lahey West. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M, Bushton (KS) Cemetery. Maud was born April 6, 1907 to George R. and Ida (Lonnon) Sturn on a farm near Bushton. She remained their much of her life caring for her parents until their deaths. In 1950 she moved to McPherson and became a nurses aid at McPherson County Hospital. With the encouragement of a friend and co-worker, she attended the KU Medical Center Practical Nurses School. Upon graduation she moved to Wichita and worked at Wesley Hospital and later became a private duty nurse. She was active in the LPN Nurses Club and served for several years as Historian. She retired in 1983. Maud was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, family history, spending time with friends and family, and had a special interest in cats and the work of the Kansas Humane Society. Preceded by parents and brother, Alfred. Survivors: niece, Theresia Duncan of Pocatello, ID; great-nieces and great-nephew, Julie (John) Robinson of Boise, ID, Jennifer Duncan of Monterey, CA, Charles (Margo) Duncan of Idaho Falls, ID and their families.
