Emerson, Oscar Lee, was born on November 10, 1942. He passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the age of 69, after a short illness. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M, Wednesday, September 26 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 27 at the East Evangelical Free Church, 14725 E. Harry, Wichita, KS, 67230. Graveside service will be 3:00 P.M., Thursday, September 27 at Vincent Cemetery, Osborne Township. Lee is survived by his wife, Melvah (Doell) of 37 years, his son, Lance of Kansas City and two grandchildren, Timmy and Shelbie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Blanch (Wiegert) Emerson. Lee was born in Beloit, KS, graduated from Luray H.S. and attended Ft. Hays State University. He served in the Army National Guard at Ft. Hood, TX. Lee worked at Cessna Aircraft for 43 years, retiring in 2009. He was a faithful member of East Evangelical Free Church and volunteered many hours there. Lee was an avid sports fan; he followed the KC Chiefs, KC Royals and was a Wichita State Shocker fan for many years, even following them to NYC for the N.I.T. tournament. He and Melvah were on a bowling team for 23 years. Lee and Melvah loved to travel; visiting many states and cruising with friends. After retirement, Lee volunteered at the Union Rescue Mission in Wichita.
