Rustin, Judge William D. “Bill”, 72, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. Memorial service 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Marty, daughter Laura, and sister, Donna Morrison, all of Wichita. Bill was born in October 15, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He participated in junior high and high school debate, competing in nationwide competitions. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City and graduated in the top 10% of his class at Central State College in Edmond, OK. He received his JD from the University of Oklahoma School of Law. Bill moved to Wichita in 1965. During his career, he was in private practice, served as a Workers Compensation Judge, and Sedgwick County Counselor before being appointed a State District Court Judge in 1987, a position he held for 14 years. He was well-known in the legal community, recognized as a Life Member of the Wichita Bar Association in 2009. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. Bill was a passionate, lifelong Oklahoma Sooners football fan, assisted in starting an OU alumni group in Wichita and was a member of the OU Club of Wichita. For many years, he was an avid golfer and had a lifelong fondness for his pet dogs .In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name for the scholarship fund in the OU College of Law c/o OU Foundation, attn: Karen Renfroe, University of Oklahoma, Whitehand Hall, 339 West Boyd, Norman, OK 73019 and Rivercross Hospice of Wichita, attn: Donations, 251 S.   2. I never met Judge Rustin, but I do know his daughter, so clearly was a good man, and great father. My condolences to the family.
