Singh, Moramattie, passed away on August 4, 2011, in Wichita, Kansas. Mora was born on October 23, 1952 in Guyana, and came to the U.S. with her husband, Bridjraj Singh, and they became the proud parents of Nalini, Trishan and Naresh, as well as the doting grandparents of Ajay. Mora earned her Masters in Library Science and worked for the Wichita Public Library for over 30 years. She was generous, hard-working, creative, full of love and brought so much beauty into this world. Her gardens gave her joy, and she was the best cook and loved to share meals. Chunku lived for her family, both near and far. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her, and this world will seem so boring without her! She was preceded in death by her parents, Tara and Khemraj Arjune. Her memory will be forever in the hearts of her brothers and sisters: Leila, Sonna, Harry and Lorna, as well as her cha-chas, cha-chees, cousins, nieces, nephews and all of her other brothers and sisters, family and friends. Please send floral arrangements to Downing Lahey Mortuary East Chapel, 6555 E. Central where a celebration of her life will be held, 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 10.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We are so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. May all the memories you have of her lift your spirits and make you smile Treasure the memories Michael and Sharron Eledge

  2. Mora was always so kind and sweet and willing to help me learn new things during my years at the Wichita Public Library. My thoughts and prayers to her family as she will be greatly missed.

  3. I am saddened by Mora’s passing. I enjoyed working with her at the reference desk at WPL for a number of years. All who knew her will miss her, and many Library users who didn’t know her but were accustomed to her smile and helpful attention will realize she is no longer there. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her family.

  4. Mora was a joy to be around. Her soft voice and big smile always made my day brighter when I saw her. She will be missed very much at the Wichita Public Library.

  5. Mora was so special — loving and generous. She liked to do things for others. I will always remember her coming to my house after my mother died with several dishes including chicken curry because she knew how much my husband loved curry. I have worked with her for over 11 years and it is going to be hard going to work and not seeing her there. My prayers are with her family. I will miss her.

  6. I\’m so sorry to hear that Mora has died. It is much, much too soon. She was always full of friendly and helpful advice and always generous. During my thirteen years working at Wichita Public Library, I saw how hard she worked and her creative endeavors. The last couple of years I was there I enjoyed carpooling with Mora; she was a good, dear friend who loved her children more than anything else. I am sorry she is gone so soon. I\’ve missed her since I left and I have many good memories of fun times with her. I know she is greatly missed even more now by her family and friends.
