Dorothy Mae (Dyer) Moyer
August 6, 2014
Dorothy Mae (Dye) Moyer, 84, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in her home filled with love and happiness. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Paul Moyer. They were married on February 14, 1949. Together they raised two children, Alana L. Moyer Titus of Lees Summit, MO, and son, Hugh A. Moyer of Wichita. Dorothy was so ever proud of her son-in-law, Gary A. Titus, and two granddaughters, Carmen E. Titus of Kansas City, MO, and Megan L. Kates and her husband, Luke, of Lees Summit, MO. Dorothy had a zest for life and impacted the lives of those she touched through her words of wisdom, sense of humor and acts of kindness. She enjoyed and appreciated the companionship of friends and neighbors and treasured her time with extended family sharing special events and holidays together. While working part-time throughout the years, she was always there for her children and a “second mom” to their friends. Dorothy was the handiest woman anyone knew and could devise a plan to fix or repair most anything around the house. She was an avid golfer, an active member of Hidden Lakes Golf Association and an enthusiastic fan of WSU Womens Basketball. Her determination to live life to the fullest was always present. Dorothy was an independent soul who demonstrated courage and strength as she experienced the challenges of failing health. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen Ercell Wilson Dye and Thomas Dye; two brothers, Frank H. Dye and James H. Dye. Her dog, Webr, was a faithful companion for many years and will remain by her side for eternity. Family and friends are welcome at Dorothys graveside memorial service, 10 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Memorial Park Cemetery, located south of the Public Works Complex, 1002 E. 14th Street, Chanute, KS 66720. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial gift to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market Street, Wichita, KS 67202, as they cared for Dorothy with compassion and expressions of love that will always be remembered, or the DLKS Fund for Womens Athletics (#611347), WSU Foundation, 1845 Fairmount Street, Wichita, KS 67260 to honor the loyalty of friendships that span a lifetime.
