Polly Ann Wilson, 95, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Wichita, Kansas. Polly was born June 4, 1922, in Topeka, Kansas, to Edward and Hazel Wilcox. She was preceded in death by Robert Stanley Wilson, husband; Max Wilcox, brother; and Edward and Hazel (Hobble) Wilcox, parents. Polly is survived by her sister, Patricia Peddicord of Yukon, OK; daughters, Deborah Wilson and Mary (Mark) Cook; sons, Michael, Joel (Lynda), James (Lana), and Patrick (Ayn) Wilson all of Wichita. She is survived by eldest grandson, Todd (Cindy) Wilson, Bells, TX, plus 14 additional grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Polly graduated from Topeka High School and attended Emporia State Teachers College where she was a member of a sorority. During World War II, Polly moved to Wichita to work for Beech Aircraft where she met Robert "Stan" Stanley. They married in 1945 and moved to Washington, D.C., where Polly had the opportunity to work for Time Magazine. Polly and Stan raised their six children in Wichita, with Polly as the homemaker. Polly instilled a love of nature in all of her children and found the time, while raising her family, to pursue various hobbies including collecting and refinishing antiques, sewing, gardening and many more. In her later years, Polly was a devoted grandmother who camped and fished with her grandchildren beyond the age of 90. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and an avid Wichita State Shocker fan. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Resurrection Cemetery, 1640 N. Maize Rd., Wichita, KS. As Polly has two grandsons with Down Syndrome, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita, 9415 E.
