White, Larry Thomas 58, said goodbye to us November 28, 2007. Born September 5, 1949, Larry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Graduating from Wellington High School in 1968, Larry maintained lifelong friendships with many of his classmates. Always a sports fanatic he loved playing football and running track in high school. Later he enjoyed coaching his sons in their athletic endeavors and took great pride in their accomplishments. Early in his working life Larry owned a demolition company and ended his career as a Supply Chain Management Professional, working for Duncan Technologies. Larry served in the Kansas National Guard during the early 1970s. He told great stories, loved talking politics and sports, made enduring friendships, loved immensely his wife, his sons, his friends, and his dog, Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Coye (Sease) White and grandson Lawrence Connor White. Missing him daily, his wife Yvonne, his sons Ty of Flagstaff, AZ and Ryan of Overland Park, KS, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kim and Jim Highfield, brother-in-law Curtis Stevens, nephews TJ and Tyson Wood and Bret Carter, nieces Tara Schooly and Jenny Conroy. Services will be held at Downing and Lahey, 6555 E. Central, in Wichita at 10:00 am Monday, December 3. Graveside services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS., 1:00 pm same day. Family and friends will gather at Andys in Wellington, KS after the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a Kansas Hospice of your choice or the American Heart Association.

  1. Yvonne I am so sorry for your loss. Larry was one of a kind. I remember all of us going sledding around town that one winter when everything was shut down and going to his house for hot chocolate. He had such good sense of humor. he will be greatly missed by all. You and your family a deep in my thoughts at this sad time.

  2. Yvonne and Family: I am so sorry to hear of Larry’s sudden passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Larry will always be a special person to me and I will always remember ‘#21’. God bless all of you at this most difficult time.

  4. Very sorry to hear about the passing of Larry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Yvonne and family.. I always thought Larry was such a dedicated individual and athlete…In school he was always striving and working the hardest to be the best he could be… Fortunately a couple of years ago I did get to meet and greet both Larry and Yvonne at a class reunion…. Thankful I took the opportunity to visit… Sincerely, John and Connie Sturgis

  5. Yvonne and family, I was so sorry to learn about Larry this week. I’m glad I had the chance to visit with both of you at the 1968 class reunion a few years ago. Was it in 2003? One of my most vivid memories of Larry from high school was his role as our ‘Powder Puff’ football coach our senior year. He was so dedicated to the task and really put his heart into trying to get some girls to learn the fundamentals of football in a short period of time. I remember the playbook he assembled that he wanted us to memorize. Oh well, we tried and I hope he wasn’t too dissappointed in us. He was a great guy and you and your family are in my thoughts as you adjust your loss of Larry.

  6. Dear Yvonne,Ryan & Ty, I would like to wish you my heartfelt condolences on the sudden passing of Larry. He was a special person and in addition to your immense personal loss his contribution to us at Duncan will be sorely missed. Larry through his capability and knowledge, his gentlemanly manner and his fair approach engendered confidence and respect. In the short time I knew Larry my knowledge of manufacturing and understanding of what was important grew quickly. I especially enjoyed our political conversations as we drove through the Arkansas countryside and when he visited us in Australia. He was thoughtful and kind and I was touched by the audio books he sent me. Sincerely Anthony Kahn Chairman Duncan Group

  7. yvonne, ty and ryan—-so sorry for your loss—haven’t seen you all for years—but, think about you. please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. jill dejarnett

  8. Ryan, Ty, Jenny, Yvonne, and Jill: It is so hard to lose someone, but especially during this time of year. Although, I never knew Larry, he leaves behind a wonderful legacy in his two sons and nieces. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am sure he has a lot of pride in the many accomplishments of his family.
