Her first love was her Catholic faith. She practiced this through her whole life without question. Her second love was her husband Morris, of 63 years whom she met during WWII and married on September 2, 1946. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren without question. She was active in her faith on many levels. She was involved in the Altar Society (past president), Serra Club, Legion of Mary, and was a charter adorer for Holy Hour at Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed golfing (had won several medals) and bowling. Her investment club was not only fun for her, but a source of income for many shopping catalog orders. Rita loved anything that grew and her children showered her with bouquets of plants and flowers on every birthday and holiday. In her later years, she became interested in painting with watercolor. Her favorite subject was old barns. She would take or find pictures of these settings and paint them. Rita loved her faithful little schnauzer, Mitzi, who misses her terribly. A memorial has been established with Blessed Sacrament Endowment Fund, 124 N. Roosevelt, Wichita, KS, 67208. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
Rosary 6:30 p.m., Friday, January 29, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
We have good memories of Rita, and you, Perk, especially the time when it snowed 10′ and Lynn and I walked to your house, picked you guys up and then proceded on to the Newhof’s house, picked them up and then went to the Scotch, what a fun night. We will miss Rita, but we know she’s in a good place.
Morris and all the familyL Your wife/mother was a wonderful, gracious and fun woman whom I enjoyed knowing and playing bridge with. She was also very talented, and I am priviledged to have one of her paintings. We will miss her. I will pray for her soul and for your family. With deepest sympathy, Peggy Wheeler
So sorry for the great loss of your mother Rita. My parent’s loved your mom and dad and in turn we spent some good times together as families celebrating births, graduations, and weddings. Your mom was so special and is having a glorious time in heaven with all her friends and family members that went before her. She was always kind and sent me Christmas cards. I will miss her as I know you all will to. It is a lot to endure such a great loss. God Bless You All! God will carry you through this time and may your best memories keep you strong, connected, and unified as a family. Love Always, Debbie (Tilton) Knetzer.
We so enjoyed getting to know Rita as we played bridge these last few years. She was a delightful lady with a great sense of humor. We are thinking of you, Morris. God be with you.
In 1965 we moved to the ‘North Fountain Street Getto’ Between the two blocks there were way over 100 little Catholic kids that were either going to school or just having fun or getting into trouble. Rita and I became friends at that time and had remained friends till I moved over four years ago. My biggest regreat is never finding the time to go to lunch with her when I was back in town. She was truly a wonderful lady. Love and prayers to all the family.
