Guestbook

  1. Marian was an inspiration to many. I feel so blessed to have been able to work with her at Jefferson Elementary my first years of teaching. She took me under her wings for several years. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

  2. I was saddened to read of Marian’s passing. And I so wish I could be at the service to extend my sympathies to the family. I am not able to do so because I am currently in Houston. But I do want to say that Marian was one of the very special people in my young professional life. She took me under her wing and mentored me when I was a first year teacher. I had no clue as to how to prepare for my first class of students and she gave me supplies and helped me get ready. Marian did it because she was just that kind of person – caring and wanting me to be successful. It developed into a friendship that I treasured during my years at Jefferson. She had a generosity of spirit and kindness as well as a great smile and sense of humor. She WILL NOT be forgotten!

  3. For some reason Mrs. Kiser has been on my mind a lot recently. It was a shock to learn of her passing. I am ashamed to say that I had lost touch with her many years ago. I remember Mrs. Kiser a a kind and caring teacher. I have always felt lucky that I had her as my 6th grade teacher for two years in a row at Jefferson Elementary. My first year she welcomed and encouraged a shy and sad eleven year old girl from California who did not know her multiplication tables. She was kind and gentle as she tutored me in math over the summer. My math skills were better but I never have liked math much. The following year, by my request, I was again in her 6th grade class. That year I learned to love history, a love I still have today, forty-six years later. While in Junior and Senior High School, I would often go back to Jefferson to see her and catch up on what she was doing. Later, I would see her in various places and we would catch up again on one another’s lives. She had a wonderful sense of humor and I can still remember the sound of her laugh. All in all, she was a great influence to me and, I’m sure, to All the other children she taught or were in her life. She will be missed by us all, but as long as there are children alive that she taught, family and friends alive that loved her, and teachers still teaching that she mentored, she will not be forgotten!

  4. Mrs. Kiser, as I knew her, was my 6th grade teacher. Then, she was the ‘teacher to get’ in 6th grade at Jefferson and I was so excited when I knew I was going to be in her class. I remember her as a happy person, who made learning fun. All the plays she did, the ‘Fiesta’ we had in the spring and learning the dances for it. I have taught for the last 25 years. I hope I am remember by my students with the same fondness I remember Mrs Kiser.

  5. I remember Mrs. Kiser as a teacher that taught me cursive writing. She was always striving to bring the best out of her students. She was my absolute best teacher I ever had. And, yes, I remember the Fiesta dances we performed. Teacher of the Year for sure!
