She is survived by son, Robert Gail and wife, Kathy Jones of Boise, ID; and son, Bill Alan and wife, Cheri Jones; and daughter-in-law, Judy Jones, all of Wichita; 9 grandchildren, their spouses; 22 great-grandchildren; two godchildren; and many beloved friends. Dorothy was born to Alfred D. Peace and M. Edith London Peace on September 3, 1928, in Hamilton, KS. She attended Wichita East High School and married the love of her life, Bill Lawson Gail Jones, on June 3, 1945. Dorothy and family lived in Wichita, Mulvane, where the children were raised, on Cheney Lake and finally in Cheney, KS. Family and her faith were extremely important. She stood by and cared for her husband through 12 years of debilitating Alzheimers disease that took him from her in 2011. She was a 2-time cancer survivor and never once complained about her own sufferings. She was always involved in the lives of her sons, their families, others around her, and the communities where she lived. Dorothy made stained glass windows, played the organ, loved to sing and was a former member of the Valley Center Sweet Adelines. Church involvement included singing in the choir, going on home visitations, evangelizing, being President of United Methodist Women, and supporting the missionary work of the church along with many other activities. She served her family, her friends, and everyone she met. When she saw a need, she found a way to fulfil it. Her favorite lines, which she shared often, were, "Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic!" and, "Today is the best day of your life and tomorrow will be even better." In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 237, Cheney, KS 67025-0237 and the American Cancer Society, 330 S. Main, Suite 100, Wichita, KS, 67202-3729.
