Thomas William Healy William Thomas Healy, known by his adopted name, Thomas William (Bill) Healy passed away quietly in his home in Berkeley, California. Bill Healy, son of the late Francis G. and Bertha A. Healy, was born in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1923. Preceded in death by brothers, Francis G. Healy Jr. and John J. Healy; sister, Elizabeth (Fancy) Redfield; wife, Catherine B. Healy; and daughter, Tara M. Healy. Bill is survived by his wife, Ann L. L. Healy of Berkeley, CA; daughters, Dr. Gail P. Quinn (husband, Thomas) of Ottumwa, Iowa; Sheila A. Healy of Albany, New York (partner, Liselle LaFrance) and Moira E. Healy of Worchester, Massachusetts; grandsons, Dr. Brian Quinn (wife, Meaghan) of Ottumwa, Iowa and Sean Quinn (wife, Cristi) of Lakewood, Colorado; two great-grandsons, Liam and Roan Quinn; and one great-granddaughter, Eden Quinn. Bill Healys early years were spent in Waltham, Massachusetts. In the year prior to WWII the family moved to Louisville, Kentucky where his father, a Lt. Commander in the Navy was directed by the Navy Department to establish a naval shipbuilding facility at the Jeffersonville Boat & Machinery Co. Bill finished his senior year in Anchorage Kentucky High School, and entered the University of Michigan majoring in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture. Bills education was interrupted by the war and he was accepted to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York. Graduating from Kings Point during World War II Bill was commissioned and served in the Navy as Engineering Officer in the Pacific. On Bills release to civilian life he completed his education at the University of Michigan. Following his marriage to Catherine Bernadette Keaveney in 1949, they raised four children and moved frequently to pursue his engineering career. He participated in the early development of radioactive isotope applications and computer systems development. At one point, he was co-founder of Gamma Corp which led to providing instrumentation for early launch complexes for NASA. After the death of his wife, in 1985, with his children grown and well on their way professionally, he married Ann Healy in 1989. He was then active in the Sedgwick County Democratic Committee and began to volunteer in various medical facilities in a number of capacities. After moving to Berkeley, CA, he enjoyed traveling extensively, attending community theater with Ann and became an active member at the YMCA Cardiac Rehab group, now known as Healthy Hearts, where he made many friends. Interment will be in Wichita, KS. Memorials have been established with: The Salvation Army, 350 N. Market, Wichita, KS 67202; Habitat for Humanity, 130 E.
