Charles K. Crum, 93, of Wichita, KS, retired management accountant and risk manager for KG&E, died February 12, 2018. Services will be private. Born in Wichita August 4, 1924 of parents Adah J. Hill and W.I. Crum who along with brothers and sisters, Helen May, Mary Elizabeth, Juanita Smith, William F., and Lewis R. precede him in death, as does his wife, Dolores Collins Crum. He is survived by brother, Edgar A. of Eugene, OR; brothers-in-law, Robert M. Collins and Bernard G. Collins, both of Wichita, and sister-in-law, Joanne Collins Powers of Rancho Santa Fe, CA as well as nieces and nephews across the United States. Crum attended public schools Park, Horace Mann, and North High School. He began school at the University of Wichita in summer of 1942, playing basketball for the WU freshman team, before leaving the following March to attend MIT in Cambridge, MA for training in meteorology in the US Army Air Corps. He served in Texas, the Dutch East Indies, and Korea until his discharge in 1946. Crum continued his service in Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Major in 1984. Returning to the University of Wichita, he graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also graduated from The University of Texas in Austin in 1949 receiving a Master of Business Administration degree. In 1974, he joined with Curtis Creed to win the Wichita City Doubles Handball Championship. Before her passing in 2017, he and his wife enjoyed traveling, including their annual trips to the NCAA Final Four, Broadway shows, and the US Open Tennis Tournament in Forest Hills and Flushing Meadows, NY. Crums family would like to thank the staff at Larksfield Healthcare for the meticulous care he received for several years.
