Alan Albarracin Sr., M.D. Dr. Alan Albarracin M.D., 69, of Wichita, KS, returned to his heavenly home on December 28, 2017 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and faith in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Rosary, 7 p.m., Thursday, January 4; Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Friday, January 5, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N Socora Wichita KS, 67212. Funeral reception to follow mass at Clare Hall. Alan was born in Cebu City, Philippines on October 10, 1948. He graduated from Abellana National High School and continued his studies at University of San Carlos. He continued his medical studies at Cebu Institute of Medicine receiving top honors. Following he completed his training at St. Johns Episcopal Hospital - internship and residency (internal medicine), and at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center - residency (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology) in Brooklyn, NY. Alan married Magdalena Albarracin (Patalinghug) on August 20, 1972. Their devotion for each other lasted 45 years. In 1974 they moved to the United States residing in Kansas for much of his life. For more than 40 years Alan was a compassionate physician specializing in internal medicine and pain management. He was actively involved in the Filipino American Association of Greater Wichita (FAAGW). He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and filling his family and friends with laughter and warming their hearts. Alan was blessed with a large and loving family. Preceded in death by parents, Severino and Victoria Albarracin, and sister, Hermenia Bersero. Survivors: wife, Magdalena; children, Iris (Randy) Smith, Victoria (Shawn) Caler and Kristy (Aaron) Adams, Alan (Asucena) Albarracin, Jr. all of Wichita; brother, Danilo Albarracin of Cebu City, Philippines; sister, Venus Albarracin of Saudi Arabia; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; Patalinghug family and Mancao family.

  1. So sad to learned he has passed. He was my doctor for several years and was very kind and compassionate. Absolutely treated me with dignity and respect. I will always have fond memories of him. I send my sincere condolences to his family. It was an honor to have known him.
