Girrens, Donald N., 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Friday, September 19, 2008. Rosary, 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 23; Funeral Mass, 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 24, both at Christ the King Catholic Church. Donald was a gardener, an avid Shocker fan, and was retired after 44 years as a building materials buyer for Star Lumber Supply. Preceded in death by parents, Michael and Mary (Doffing); brothers, Lou and Lawrence; sisters, Regina Robben, Leona Schauf and Mary Girrens. Survivors: wife of 59 years, Jean; sons, Ed (Carol) of Molalla, OR, Donnie, Bob (Deanna), David (Deb), and Tim (Cathy); daughters, Patti Helton and Barbara Girrens, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Bill (Candace) and Aaron (Ashley) Helton, Lori, Eddie (Jean), Hanna, Dugan, Dustin (Nicole), Dawn, Rachel, and Niki Girrens; great-grandchildren, Timmy, David, Kolby and Kaleb Girrens, Zachary Helton, Stephanie and Josh Rayer; brother, Mike (Marian) Girrens of Wichita; sisters, Cathryn Nilles of Goddard, Lucille Mainz of Colwich, Gladys Abbott of Overland Park, and Rosemary (Ben) Olmstead of Green Lake, WI; sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Girrens of Goddard, Nadine Girrens of Colwich; numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
