Lance Christopher Rowlen, 67, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away, Saturday, December 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. Visitation, 6-8 PM, Tuesday, December 27 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West, 10515 W. Maple. Rosary, 7 PM Wednesday, December 28; Funeral Mass and a celebration of Lance’s life, 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 29, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Dan Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Lance was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Joseph Rowlen; infant daughter, Carrie Jo and daughter, Deanna Rowlen Betts. Survivors: wife, Rita Rowlen; brothers, Craig (Sherry) Rowlen, Kim (Caron) Rowlen; four children, Shelly Ross (Ryan), David Bean (Grace), Brandi Hall-Mullet (Jason) and Kara Rowlen; 8 grandchildren, Natalya & Katriona Ross, Haley, Julian and Brennan Bean, Ryan and Austin Hall, and Aleah Mullet. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Lance was born March 16, 1949, to Joseph and Barbara Rowlen. He was raised in Belleville, Kansas and attended Kansas State University. He relocated to Wichita, was a real estate agent/broker and a member of the President’s Club. He met his wife Rita through work and they married in 1982. He later joined Ultra Modern Pool & Patio where he spent 25 years partnering with his wife, Rita, and sister-in-law, Linda Wallace. Lance became a big part of the pool and spa industry with many technical certifications and was a board member of Carecraft buying group. He was an integral part of Ultra Modern. The company was awarded the Aqua Hall of Fame, a prestigious award. Lance loved his work. He had many hobbies growing up. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, boating and golf. As his family grew, his hobbies included watching his kids and grandkids play sports and he never missed a game. He was involved in the City Council in Colwich. Lance loved football and sports as a KSU, KU, WSU and Chiefs fan. In his retirement, his favorite shows became Andy Griffith and Turner Classic Movies. Lance was known as a very kind and generous man. He made a friend wherever he was, even at his favorite lunch spots. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
