Hooper, James Floyd, 82, retired Vulcan Chemical Co. chemical processing supervisor, left his loving family for his Lord, Sunday, June 3, 2007. Service 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 7, University Congregational Church. Interment, 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 8, Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow, OK. Floyd was born on January 17, 1925 in Cromwell, OK, one of 3 children. He graduated from Chase High School in Kansas in 1943 and then joined the service in the U.S. Army, Battery B, 839th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. Floyd served (including liberating a German Concentration camp) in both the North Africa and European theatres of the war until April 1946. On his return, he married his sweetheart, Imogene, who had waited for him during the war years. Floyd and Imogene resided in Tulsa, OK where he worked for Stanlin Oil Research. In 1958 the family moved to Clearwater, KS when Floyd started work for what was then Frontier Chemical Co. and later Vulcan Chemical Co. He retired as a Process Unit Supervisor in 1985. They built their dream home on Grand Lake, OK, where they retired for many happy years. Floyds final years were spent with Jean in Augusta, KS, next to daughter Donna and her husband, Jay and their children and animals, which brought great joy to his life. Survivors include his wife, Jean, along with four children, Twila Burks (Jerry) of Kansas City, Karen Fraipont (Kevin) of Valley Center, Wayne Hooper (Marian) of Wichita and Donna Christner (Jay) of Augusta, as well as 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718, American Heart Society, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS, 66601-1653 and Total Homecare and Hospice, 250 W. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
