Marker, Virginia Lee, our beloved wife and mother, passed away at her home on June 3, 2010, from cancer. She was 87. Virginia was born December 18, 1922 in St. Joseph, MO to Ralph and Ruth Alexander. She attended Benton High School in St. Joseph and after graduating, she went to work as an analyst for the FBI in Washington, D.C. Virginia subsequently returned to her hometown to be a civilian flight simulator instructor for Army Air Corp pilots. When Virginia later attended St. Joseph Junior College, she met the love of her life and future husband, William “Bill” Marker. Before marrying Bill, she moved to Wichita to work as a model for the Wichita Academy of Modeling. While there, Virginia was soon promoted to become the agencys manager. In the meanwhile, Bill had also moved to Wichita to work for the Boeing Company. Virginia soon decided to leave the modeling agency to work at Boeing as an administrative clerk. On June 17, 1954, Virginia and Bill were married and on June 6 of the following year their only child, Alayne, was born. After Alaynes birth, Virginia turned her energies to being a full-time homemaker and loving mother while also teaching Sunday school at United Church of Christ. In 1967, Virginia and Bill became real estate brokers and for a number of years, managed their own real estate firm, Marker Associates. From 1968 through 1976, Virginia also acted as the Director of Material for Kantron Corporation, an electronic equipment company. In 1977, she took over the management of various rental properties for the W. Randall Corporation. Over the years, Virginia also worked in retail, traveled extensively within the U.S. and to Europe, Canada and Mexico, assisted in political campaigns and supported several nonprofits. In 2006, Virginia became Bills fulltime caregiver because of his health. Virginia was the light and heart of our home. She was truly a very special wife and mother who will be deeply missed and greatly loved and admired. Virginia was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Helen Beaupeurt. Survivors include Bill and Alayne and son-in-law, Steve Smith, along with nieces, Sharry and D.J. Beaupeurt, and nephew, Edward Beaupeurt.
