Guy Bill Warren

November 13, 1937 ~ December 18, 2018
Guy “Bill” Warren, Jr.
Guy “Bill” William Warren, Jr., the son of Marjorie (Edwards) and Guy William Warren, Sr. was born on November 13, 1937 in Barber Co., Kansas near 99 Springs. Bill attended country school up to junior high when he attended Medicine Lodge Public Schools and graduated in 1955. He attended one year at Kansas State University.
Bill Warren was united in marriage to Judy Ann Brown on May 28, 1960 in Anthony, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of four children: three sons and one daughter, Howard, Thomas, Timothy and Jennifer. During this time, Bill worked in the oil fields and they lived in many places, including Medicine Lodge, Liberal and North Dakota for a brief time. While in Liberal, he worked with his brother, Don, framing houses, pouring basements, and doing demolition and salvaging of older buildings. Eventually, he started working for Ideal Food Warehouse. Bill was kept busy coaching Tom and Tim’s baseball and basketball teams. In 1977, the family moved to Hutchinson where Bill worked for Farmland Cooperative. Two years later, the family moved to Mulvane and Bill worked for many companies out of Wichita as a truck driver. These companies include: Winters Truck Line, Campbell 66, Consolidated Freight, Yellow Freight and Holmes Truck Line. Bill retired in 2002, but remained active with in the Teamsters Union, serving most recently as the President of the Retired Teamsters #795.
On May 7, 1988, Bill married Mary Lou (Jacobs) in Wichita, KS. Mary Lou brought four children to this marriage, two sons and two daughters: Joleen, Terry, Todd and Kimberly. The couple made their first home in Wichita, where Bill put his green thumb to work in the yard and garden. In 1996, Bill and Mary Lou moved to their current home outside of Clearwater. Bill put his carpentry skills to work and completely redid their home. Bill always had a HUGE garden and gladly shared his overabundance with everyone around. Having such a large family, kept Bill very busy with activities, including school activities, birthday parties, graduations, and weddings. He looked forward to coffee at the Schulte gas station, Monday night poker games, and monthly card parties with Mary Lou’s brothers and sisters. He was always up for a game of dominos or pitch, and loved to go to the Wichita Greyhound Park to watch the dogs race. Bill had special sayings he would use with each of his family members, yet he called almost everyone Butch. Many of the grandkids would call him Grandpa Butch. Family was important to Bill and he became the keeper of the Warren genealogy. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many.

Our hearts are never ready to let go at times like this…but it will help to know that others care. Try to smile thru the tears and remember all the good times and all the wonderful memories you have had together.
I send my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Warren. May the words at John 6:40 bring comfort during this difficult time.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. He was a big help to me. He showed me the ropes of the freight delivering business and he liked to call me Dursky, instead of Dusty. I enjoyed working with him and I wish I could attend his funeral, but I wont be able to. He was a good man.
Good bye Dad, God blessed me with you as my dad.
Bill didnt meet a stranger. Always told stories of his family, you knew by his grin on his face & chuckle he would make, he was so proud of his children and his wife. He will be missed stopping in the office @ SKT. Prayers go out to his family.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
