Darrel Don Hall

February 6, 2019
Darrel Don Hall
82, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and hero, entered into eternal rest in Wichita, Kansas, on February 6, 2019. Darrel was born to Albert “Pete” and Louise (Fox) Hall in Pottersville, Missouri, at the Charlie House, on the Hall Homestead that the family has owned for many generations. Darrel received his early education in a one-room school, Lone Pilgrim, in Ozark County. As a young man, he entered the United States Navy during the end of the Korean War. He was on a battleship running a blockade near Cuba, and he served aboard the USS Des Moines. He was a GMM3 during his service, winning honors for his marksmanship. During his time overseas, he sent money back to his parents to help raise his brothers and sisters. Darrel was truly an honorable man: compassionate, generous, and believed a man was only as good as his word. After he returned home from the service, he met and married Alba Jean Stratford, and to this union 3 children were born: Kathy, Don and Jackie. He later married Ruby Faye Hooser and brought into the family: sons, Tom and Ralph Hooser. Darrel worked in the aircraft industry in Wichita and retired from there at the age of 70. Some of Darrel’s greatest joys in life were spent in Ozark County, Missouri, where he hunted and fished. He found Christ early in life and taught his children to love the Lord. Darrel is preceded in death by his son, Don; wife, Ruby; parents, Albert and Louise; grandchild, Madawna Upton; great-granddaughter, Hanna Hanine; 3 sisters, Mary and Joyce May and Bessie Robinson; and 5 brothers, Hubert, Virdus, Glen, Doyle and Johnny. Survivors: daughters, Kathy (Ron) Barnett of Pottersville, MO, Jackie (Jim) Gardner of Maize, KS; sons, Tom Hooser of Wichita, KS, Ralph (Brandi) Hooser of Bentley, KS; brother, Gerald (Dona) Hall of West Plains, MO; sisters-in-law, Betty, Elaine, Carolyn and Janice Hall; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 600 Broadway, Suite 290, Kansas City, MO 64105. Visitation, 4-8 p.m., Friday, February 8; Funeral Service, 2 p.m., Saturday, February 9, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West with Reverend Steven A. Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley, KS.
Jackie and Kathy,
Im so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a great man and he will be truly missed. I have missed those words of wisdom that always started out with “Well, girl….”
He is at peace now with Faye and other family members who went before him to welcome him home to be with Our Lord and Savior. God Bless you and give you and your family strength during this difficult time.
