I had no shoes and I complained until I met a man who had no feet and didn’t complain.
We are gathered to say farewell to Earl Clayton Guiot. Earl was the oldest son of Clayton Delbert Guiot and Florence Josephine (Caylor) Guiot. He was born October 14, 1936 in rural Cloud County. He had a younger brother, Alfred Leo, by three years and one day who is deceased. Earl attended his first three years of education at a one room school near Hucher, Kansas, the next three years were spent at a one room school between Concordia and Ames, the next two years were at Concordia Junior-Senior High School, and three years at Glasco Rural High School.
On May 24, 1955, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Elizabeth Ann Rogers, at the Methodist Church in Glasco, Kansas. They are proud of their children, DeAnn Lynn Guiot (son, Dustin), Lucinda Kay Guiot (daughter, Erin), Susan Lee Guiot (daughters, Autumn and Amber), Sandra Dee Neal (daughters, Tawnie and Amanda), Steven Earl Guiot (Melissa Woods and son, Spencer Woods); great-granddaughters, Livvy Burton and Camari Carver.
Earl was a graduate of Glasco Rural High School, McPherson College and earned a graduate degree from Wichita State University. He served as football and track coach at Kinsley High School and Haven High School, high school principal at Beloit and Buhler, superintendent of schools at Halstead and Troy. He completed his final assignment in education as the Executive Director of the South Central Kansas Service Center. After retirement from public education, he taught Driver Education for the Drive-Right School of Wichita and owned and operated the Kansas Rope Company.
In 1991, Earl was presented the Governor’s Award for outstanding leadership in the field of secondary education for the State of Kansas. He had membership in the American Association of School Administrators, United School Administrators of Kansas and served as president of the Kansas State High School Activities Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Halstead Hospital. Earl was active in the Lions Club at Halstead and Troy. He provided years of service as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kansas Teacher’s Hall of Fame located in Dodge City.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred Leo Guiot, and grandson, Tyson Neal.

So sorry for the families loss. Praying for the family as its extremely hard to lose a parent.
I remember Mr Earl Guiot from Buhler High School. He was a wonderful and good man who truly cared about his students. April Stokely RN (Class of 1976)
