Dr. Harold W. Vogt passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, March 3, 2018, just 12 days shy of his 92nd birthday, at Life Care Center of Wichita. From his birth on March 15, 1926 in Hillsboro, Kansas until his death, he filled his days with loving service to those around him and will be remembered by so many for the good that he did. He was born to Jacob W. And Martha (Wiens) Vogt in Hillsboro, KS, and spent his childhood with his parents and 4 brothers in both Corn, Oklahoma and Hillsboro. He graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro in 1950 with degrees in History and Psychology, and the same year married Berdena Kornelson. After his graduation from the University of Southern California in 1954 with a PhD in Religion, they moved to Newton, Kansas where he served as the Director of Psychology at Prairie View Mental Hospital. In the early 60s he began a private clinical psychology practice in Wichita. During his long career he was active in his profession on the state and national level, serving as president of the American Association of State Psychology Boards (now known as the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards) from 1971-1972, and of the Kansas Psychological Association from 1975-1976. He continued his busy psychology practice until he retired in 2016, a few months after his 90th birthday. Through his psychology practice he touched countless lives, helping so many to successfully battle their mental illness and lead happier, more productive lives. It was his lifes work, his mission and his very great joy. His joy was multiplied when, in 1986, he married the love of his life, June (Toepfer) Walters. When he wasnt working, he enjoyed photography, travel, gardening and music. He sang with the Mennonite Mens Chorus and the Grace Presbyterian Chancel Choir. He is survived by his loving wife; his 3 children, Gregory Vogt (Kate Dewey-Vogt) of Black Mountain, NC, Bruce Vogt (Mary Holle) of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Laurel Vogt (Gianfranco Pezzino) of Topeka, KS; his step-son, Kent Miller (Roxie); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Dewey-Vogt, Daniel Dewey-Vogt (Lilly), Michael Dewey-Vogt, Matteo Pezzino (Jewel), Martina Pezzino and Stefano Pezzino; his step-grandchildren, Tony Miller, Kindt Jack Miller, Mary Hayes (Jeremy), Crystal Miller; great-grandson, Liam Dewey-Vogt; and step great-grandchildren, Devin Miller, Kailey, Jonathan and Timothy Hayes, Lexie Nowak, Georgia Beckner, Cary Jenson Forman, and Destiny, Madison and Donovan Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Vernon W. Vogt of Newton, KS, Cornelius W. Vogt of San Carlos, CA, Milton W. Vogt of Konowa, OK and Eugene W. Vogt of Gunnison, CO; and his step-son Cary Miller of Wichita. We would like to offer special thanks to his dear sister-in-law Martha Stagner of Ringling, OK, and to friends Laura McFall and Jeanne Scott for their invaluable help during his long illness. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas at 1 pm. If desired, memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S.
