Miville, Alfred J. “Al”, entered his eternal life on March 27, 2014 from complications of Alzheimers disease. Al was born October 8, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA to Alfred J. Miville and Ruth Pinet. Al was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. At the age of 5, Al went to Topeka, KS and was fortunate to live with his grandparents, Frank and Tillie Pinet, until he graduated from Topeka High School in 1944 and entered Naval Officer Training in Ohio. At the end of the war, Al returned to Kansas, graduated from KU and married Marjorie Crosby in 1948. They lived in Salina until he was called to the Korean War where he served for two years as a Supply Officer on a destroyer. They moved to Wichita in 1953. In 1977 he was married to the love of his life Patricia Reagan Miville. Al was an active social man with many interests including chess, bridge, fishing and travelling with his wife and friends to foreign countries. He was an avid tennis player, always competitive and often winning. After retirement, Al volunteered helping immigrants from many countries learn to read and speak English, earned 130 hours from WSUs senior program, primarily in the Humanities and served in a variety of volunteer activities at Grace Presbyterian Church. Als career activities centered on property management and real estate in a variety of settings. His final career was Building Manager of the Bank IV building for 20 years. His sense of civic activism led him to take a strong position on civil rights, especially in integrating neighborhoods. Al is survived by his wife of 37 years Patricia Miville; five children, Alfred Joseph Miville, Jr., Mary Miville (Hermina), Tom Miville (Diana), Mike Miville and Mitchell Miville (Donna); two step-children: Julie Shrewsbury (Jeff) and David Malone and 9 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 P.M.
