Barbara J. Chaffee, 89, born in Aurora, Illinois, died on October 30, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at University United Methodist Church on Monday November 26th at 11:00 a.m. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband (Leonard M. Chaffee) of 62 years. Survivors include: her sister Cynthia Syler (Don), daughter Kathleen Wolff, sons Bruce (Valori) and David (Pamela), as well as six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. An educators wife, she was active in Leonards life as well as a dedicated supporter of P.E.O., the Wichita Symphony, the church, as well as numerous book clubs and groups. Barbara had a love of lace, making Christmas cookies with the grandchildren, and collecting antiques (sorry Dad). With roots in Illinois, Ohio, New York, Florida and Kansas, Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to University United Methodist Church, 2220 N. Yale, Wichita, KS 67220, or Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin Blvd., Nevada, MO 64772-2790.   4. My Mom worked for Dean Chaffee at WSU for many years. Through that and P.E.O. she got to know Barb and loved both of them. I became acquainted with Barb through P.E.O. and she was such a kind-spirited woman. Hugs to the family.
