Cessna, Patricia Lee White-Broomfield, 82, passed from this life into the presence of her precious Savior and Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2008, with joy unspeakable. Pattie was born into this life in Wichita, to Clayton and Ruth White on December 14, 1925. She was a current member of Messiah Baptist Church (renamed New Spring Church) and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and First Bible Baptist Church, respectively. Mrs. Cessna taught Bible classes for many years and considered her students special treasures and blessings. Having been a member of Christian Womans Club since 1976, she deemed it a privilege to provide piano music through most of those years. She was a past member of 20th Century Club which she enjoyed very much. Pattie is preceded in death by her parents, her dear son, David Broomfield, and Noel M. Cessna, her beloved husband. Survivors include: daughter, Kay Louse Smith and son-in-law, Don Smith; grandson Michael Vecchio of Idaho Falls, Idaho and three great-grandchildren Morgan, Jade and Emily Vecchio; daughter, Mary Lou Pitts of Lawrence, Kansas, grandson, Lucus Pitts and granddaughter, Ashleigh Pitts; brother, Bruce White and sister-in-law Susan, of Tucson, Arizona; niece, Sandra Holmes and husband, John, of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephew, Steven White and wife, Kristie and their son Kaleb of Tucson, Arizona. A “Special Daughter” Bonnie Cramer and her husband, Dakin Cramer, who have been a comfort and joy, as well as other members of that special extended family, are remembered with great love and affection. Pattie wanted to remember her many, loving friends of many years. Pattie has experienced cancer since 1997 and is thankful to God, and her wonderful doctors, for her extension of earthly life, to be in His service. The family are sincerely grateful to the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice and Andover Court Assisted Living for their Godly love and professional care to Pattie. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, November 3, 2008, at Downing and Lahey East, 6555 East Central. Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at New Spring Church. Graveside service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Goddard, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to New Spring Church, 12200 East 21st St. North, Wichita, Kansas 67206 and “Everyday Heros” (Rick and Alice Baer, local missionaries involved in prison ministries) 9417 Greenbriar Court, Wichita, Kansas 67226. Guestbook

  1. Pattie was a wonderful example of gracefully taking difficult health circumstances and never letting them keep you from smiling, loving people and playing music. She was a blessing to us when she came to play the piano at our Christian Women’s After 5 group. May God bless you, her family, as you adjust to her change of address to Heaven. Barbara Bath Christian Women’s After 5 group

  2. I am very sorry to learn that Pattie has gone to be with the Lord. Someone sent, anonymously, to me an award my father Noel Cessna won back in 1991. I tried to call and email Pattie and both have been disconnected. I would have liked to have talked to her again to learn more about my father. Sorry for your loss, Joel

  3. I wanted to sent my condolences to your wonderful family. My friendship with Pat and Noel is something I will always remember and cherish. When I heard of her death the first thing I thought of was how happy she must be at this moment being in the presence of the Lord she loves so much. I have never known a more kind and generous person. Lucy, I’m sorry I missed seeing you at the funeral home that night. I was just a little late and you all had gone. My thoughts and prayers are with you. What a wonderful person she was!

  4. What a special privilege and blessing to have Pattie as a friend. Her zeal for the Lord and life always inspired me and everyone else whom she touched. She will be remembered and missed by all of us at our Christian Women’s Connection. We also rejoice that she is in the presence of her Lord and Saviour.

  5. I and my wife, Gaytha (Kennedy), have very fond memories of Patty as our high school S.S. teacher at Cumberland Church. Patty’s zeal for the Lord and insatiable appetite for His Word was inspiring and catching! I still know by memory Isaiah chapters 6 and 53 which she challenged us at one point to memorize; and I still possess and occasionally play from DeCou’s piano arrangement which was awarded. From that beginning we have memorized many whole chapters and a few NT epistles which have been a tremendous spiritual asset in our lives. I was hoping that Patty could live to see the day when the Rapture occurred, and I was glad to see that her Bible at the visitation tonight was well-marked in the Book of Revelation (as well as elsewhere). I was so privileged to meet David’s widow and I apologize to her for asking her about David. I felt like I might have unwittingly acerbated her feelings of loss. I am proud of your love and care you have shown to Patty. God bless you richly. And Lucy, sorry we missed you Monday night. We hope you will receive much comfort and strength through these days.
