Jocelyn Amanda Mendoza

August 9, 1987 ~ April 9, 2020
It is with utter sadness that Jocelyn Amanda Mendoza, 32, passed away April 9, 2020. She was born August 9, 1987 in Winfield, Kansas to Jesus and Michelle Mendoza. She was engaged to her longtime friend and love, Gregory Bryan, and mother to two amazing young boys, Tyler Christopher and Malaki Andrew.
Jocelyn was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Jocelyn would do anything for anyone and somehow did it all. Her hands were rarely still. If she wasn’t delivering babies as a Registered Nurse-LDR at Wesley Medical Center, then she was involved in so many other things like, raising two busy boys, caring for her many animals out on their land in Sedgwick, studying for her doctorate degree or running a race somewhere with her running crew.
Jocelyn was currently working on earning her doctorate degree in Midwifery/Nursing at the University of Kansas and planned to achieve this dream in May 2021. She was extremely passionate about this dream and had worked so hard on it as she sincerely hoped to make a positive impact on the birthing community in Wichita.
Jocelyn is survived by her fiancé Greg, and sons Tyler and Malaki and many animals. She is sister to Jaci Caceres and Jaci’s husband JR Caceres and aunt to their boys, Diego and Santi. She is sister to Jessica Mendoza and fiancé Nick Patton and aunt to their daughter Desiree and she is half-sister to Crissi Mendoza. She is the granddaughter of Bennie and Jackie Pickens of Winfield, Kansas and Celia and Francisco Mendoza of Monterrey, Mexico. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends everywhere from different parts of the US and Mexico! All of these she loved and touched deeply. She will be so dearly missed by all as she had a heart of gold, kind and gentle nature and sweetest smile that left an impression!
Please join us celebrating her life at a later date, we hope on her birthday this summer. Viewing will be from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm, Monday, April 13, 2020 and Tuesday, April 14, 2020, both at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Private family graveside will take place at Highland Cemetery, Winfield, KS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a GoFundMe put together by her friends to help with the whatever her young family may need during this time at https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-greg-and-his-boys-in-memory-of-jocelyn-mendoza?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

I am absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of Jocelyn’s passing. I’ve worked with her for 4 years now and I was always so amazed at how wonderful a nurse she was. She helped me out on many occasions and had no fear in whatever was thrown at her. She tried everything within her power to ensure that each patient received the best care possible. She is certainly someone who will be truly missed. RIP Jocelyn.
