Berniece Ann Beatrice Schmidt Boerstler

Berniece Ann Beatrice Schmidt Boerstler “Babs,” 76 of Wichita, Kansas was born April 24, 1944 on her father’s 31st birthday and passed on December 6, 2020.
Babs was born in Caldwell, Kansas and resided with her family on a farm near Corbin, Kansas. She attended 1st grade at Hahn School house, 2nd through 8th at St. Martins Catholic Grade school then Caldwell High School graduating in 1962. She then attended 2 years at St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas then received her Register Nurse degree from St. Joseph Nursing school in 1965. Following graduation she was in the Army Nursing Corps until 1968. She received her BSN from Wichita State University in 1973. She worked at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita until retirement in 2001.
She had many interests/activities including volunteering at Wichita Botanica, choir and bells at Blessed Sacrament Church, and very active in the Needlepoint guild of Wichita.
Babs is survived by husband, Phillip; daughters, Anne Boerstler and Marla (Shannon) Uhrig; grandchildren, Simon, Zoey, and Addison Uhrig of Wichita, KS; brothers, Clarence and Patty Schmidt, Steve and Lori Schmidt of Caldwell, KS, Leon and Linda Schmidt of Wellington, KS, Marvin and Linda Schmidt of Denver, CO; sisters, Gennie and James Mash of Beebe, AR, and Barb Helena of Wichita, KS.
Babs is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Anna Schmidt; brother, Robert (Shorty) Schmidt; and her son, Anthony (Tony) Reece.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Embroiderers’ Guild of America (www.egausa.org ) or Botanica Wichita.
Rosary will be Sunday, December 13, at 7:30 pm; Funeral Mass will be Monday, December 14, at 10:00 am, both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Anne & Family, So, sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. It seems like just a couple weeks ago that I visited with her after 5:15 mass and asked her how you were doing. Sorry for you loss. I truly believe she is in a greater place now.
