January 10, 2021 To the Abdayem Family: Today, Nancy and I read in the paper regarding the death of your beloved Abdullah. We were shocked and saddened because he was very special to us. We will miss the many visits with him and the enjoyment of his special coffee and baked treats. He always presented himself as a very strong and honorable person. He was always mindful of family traditions and customs and it was an extreme joy to listen and learn about your family and the old country. He was a very knowledgeable person. It is more sad that his loss is another step in losing our connection with our past and family traditions. The young people will never realize what life was like when people like him were around and what they stood for. It will be hard for them to recognize what they have missed. Hopefully, when the Pandemic is conquered it will be safe for all of us to get together again and enjoy some of the old traditions again. Our heats and thoughts are with you at this time.
