Arthur “Art” VanDresser, 96, died Saturday, July 3, 2021. Arthur W. VanDresser was born February 5, 1925, to Guy and Mildred VanDresser in Independence, Kansas. He attended schools in Independence, Kansas and Stockton, California. He served in the US Navy during WWII and Korean War. He worked at Boeing Computer Services for 36 years. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mildred VanDresser; sister, Betty Bonny; wife of 54 years, Marylyn Ann VanDresser; and friend, Dottie Payne. Art is survived by his daughter, Gayle Nye (Tim); grandsons, Kolby Nye (Amber), Kali Nye; great-granddaughters, Kenzie Dagel and Shea Snodgrass. After Art and Marylyn retired, they purchased a motor home and traveled the USA spending winters in Arizona and Texas Rio Grande Valley. Art joked about wearing out one motor home and purchasing a second one. When Art and Marylyn were tired of traveling, they sold the motor home and their home of over 30 years to build a new home at Willowbend Golf Course just west of number 6 green. Art played golf with his Boeing friends and new friends at Willowbend Country Club. Marylyn played bridge and was active in the 20th Century Club, Project Beauty and Botanica. Marylyn passed on November 2, 2002, and Art became very active in the Midian Shrine. He was Shriner of the year in 2005. He was active in the Golden VIP, Ambassadors of Midian, and the Million Dollar Band. He played trombone in several of the groups, Parade Band, Concert Band, Dance Katz, Polka Katz, Jazz Kats, and several others. After shoulder surgery in both shoulders, Art gave up golf and sold the house in Willowbend. He moved to a twin home next door to his Grandson and Granddaughter in law, Kolby and Amber Nye. Kolby and Amber took great care of him, along with Tim and Gayle Nye and Kali Nye. Art liked to work on cars and trucks, (pre-1990). Art and his grand sons and granddaughter in-law worked on Jeeps, pickup trucks, boats, SUVs, and campers of all types. Art also liked to work in the yard and always had a garden. No Services are scheduled. Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
