Carol Ann Walterbach, gave her last breath July 3, 2021, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with cancer. Even though she is not with us on this earth anymore, we will forever remember her contagious smile and sweet, loving nature. “But our homeland is in heaven, where our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is; and we are looking forward to his return from there.” Philippians 3:20. Carol was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, and lived in many different cities with her family on her route to the Midwest, landing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 40 years. She had just recently moved back to Wichita to be close to family. Carol was the oldest of five children. Her parents, Arnold and Marian, and sister, Sandra Lein, preceded her in death. Carol is survived by her siblings, Karen Lungwitz (Leon), James Lein (Linda) and Christine Clemons (Tracy), along with many nieces and nephews. Carol was a loyal friend and sister. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, staying active through running and walking, loved family trips especially to the beach, and had an eye for fashion. She was devoted to her career and made friends wherever she went. Carol was quite witty, kindhearted, and always had a natural laugh and smile. She had a genuine interest about what was going on with others and loved to hear about all the activities of her nieces and nephews. The simple things in life brought her joy such as the beauty of nature around her, a glass of wine, or a deal on a new pair of shoes. Carol was passionate about life, and she lived that each day. A service will be held in her honor at 10:30 a.m., on July 12, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, Kansas. She will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas, near her parents.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I worked many years with Carol in Tulsa. She was a wonderful coworker and friend . Always had a smile, kind word and always asked about our families. She would say something very witty, off the wall remark and give you a sideways smile. I will miss that. I know she’s with our Lord and Savior. Debbie

  2. So many memories over 35 years of friendship. I will so miss walking and talking, dining and shopping, and hanging out at my house with Carol. Four of us traveled together and called ourselves the Newmanettes (long story). We celebrated birthdays and Holidays together. My life has a huge void.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing your Beloved Carol with us in Tulsa. I had the privilege of working with her in 1982-84 during my very 1st job as a young new physician assistant. You very perfectly described the Carol I remember as being so nice, concerned about our patients, very friendly, fashionable & just a joy to be around. I am so very sorry for your loss of her, but so delighted that we could meet again someday in Heaven. Christie Harrison, Tulsa
