Megan Genae Stadler, 48, passed away, at home, on Tuesday July 13, 2021 after a 4.25 year journey through colon cancer. A Rosary will be held at 7 pm, Thursday July 29, 2021, with additional visitation following. A Memorial Mass, and luncheon, will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, July 30, 2021. Both are being held at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Wichita, KS. Interment at Ascension Cemetery, Wichita, KS. Megan is preceded in death by her mother Dana Ritchie, stepfather Delano Ritchie and her father, Jerald Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Andrew Stadler and their three sons, Alex (24) of Wichita, Chris (24) of Bloomington, IN, and Caleb (20) of Wichita. She is also survived by her sister Amy Johnson and husband Chad Welper. Megan was born September 16, 1972 in Minneapolis, MN and was the youngest daughter of Dana Ritchie and Jerald Johnson. She grew up in Minneapolis and attended Roosevelt Senior High School. She went on to study at Mankato State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. It was there that she met her future husband, Andy Stadler. They were married in Mankato in 1995. When her twin sons (Alex and Chris) were born in 1997, Megan decided to become a stay-at-home mom and raise her boys. She was very active in the Mankato Mothering Multiples group coordinating events for other families with multiples. In 1999, the family moved to Wichita, KS and Caleb was born in 2000. Megan was again very active in Wichita’s Mothers and More. She also dedicated much of her free time to the many groups at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, including Altar Society, Rosary Makers, STA MOMS, and the altar flower ministry. Being Stampin’ Up demonstrator was one of her favorite pastimes, she held monthly classes at the house to share her love of crafts with her friends and attended the annual convention in Salt Lake City for many years. As the boys grew and Megan regained more of her free time, she found a position as Receptionist at Yingling Aviation. It was there that she became involved with the Doc’s Friends. When cancer treatments made it difficult for her to continue working, she still volunteered her time at the Doc Hangar several days a week. Her Stage 4 Colon Cancer diagnosis in May of 2017 was a blow to her and the entire family. Throughout all of her treatments and the various indignities that cancer brings, Megan remained positive and handled it all with grace and poise. The family would like to thank the staff in treatment room C at the Cancer Center, you all made her time there as enjoyable as possible. She considered you all friends. During the 4 years since her diagnosis, Megan was able to watch her twins graduate from High School and College, and move on to promising careers. She was able to watch her youngest son graduate High School and attend college. Megan and Andy also had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica several times. It was there that Megan adopted the sloth as her mascot. On the most recent trip, they were able to renew their marriage vows and celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. During her last weeks, Megan was able to be home and spend time with her family and many of her friends. Thank you to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Care for making it possible. 1. My deepest sympathies to Megan’s husband and boys who I know she loved deeply and was extremely proud of. I enjoyed stamping with Megan for several years and have kept in touch with her since. I’m sad today but know someday I will see her again in heaven. God Bless.
