Dorothy Jean Winward, 73, passed away July 17, 2021. Dorothy was born in Dallas, Texas, September 8, 1947, to Paul and Jane Carter. She was raised by loving parents, Warren and Mozelle Bransom, in Coldwater, Kansas, where she graduated high school in 1965. Dorothy attended nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital, graduating in 1972. She began her career as a radiology tech at St. Francis Hospital after graduating from St. Francis School of Radiology in 1980. She married her husband, Michael, in 1989, who shared her love for motorcycles and traveling. She retired from Wesley Hospital in 2013 after 23 years of service. Dorothy loved being a part of the American Legion Riders with Michael. She was a kind, gentle soul who knew no stranger; she would give hugs and a sympathetic ear to anyone who needed it. Her grandchildren, who knew her as “Grandma Red”, were her pride and joy. Preceded by parents, Warren and Mozelle Bransom; Paul and Jane Carter; son, Jason, and husband, Michael. Survived by daughters, Daralyn Turner of El Dorado and Dacia (Charlie) Kennedy of Valley Center; siblings, Gary (Pam) Carter of Ft. Worth, TX, Pat Nanninga of Burnsville, MN, Sandy Johnson of San Antonio, TX and Belinda (Bob) Mosier of Keene, TX; grandchildren, Zach (Samantha) Martinez, James Warren III and Evan Kennedy; 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
