Donald "Don" Aaron

October 7, 1952 ~ September 23, 2021
Don, age 68 passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 23, 2021 with no apparent health issues. His death came as complete shock to his family and many friends. Don was born on October 7, 1952 to Kathleen and Tom Aaron, the youngest of seven children. Don graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in 1970 and enjoyed life- long friendships with many of his classmates.
After moving to Concordia and working for a pest control company for several years, Don decided to return to Wichita and form his own pest control business (Pest Free Pest Control). He operated his business for more than 35 years and was proud to have his sons work with him and continue his passion for service. His customers will tell you that he had a magnetic, engaging personality. He was proud of the personal relationships he developed with his customers and took pleasure in the fact that he was often provided with a “honey do” list when he arrived for appointments. It was clear to all who knew him that he was passionate about his business and loved his customers.
His family was his proudest achievement. Don married Terri Clayton and son Jason Lee was born in 1976. His second wife and best friend, Wendy were married for 38 years, bearing two children, Don, Jr. (“D”) and Hattie (“H”). Jason was the first to follow his father into the pest control business and D also followed in his dad’s footsteps. The close-knit relationships he had with his family gave him joy every day.
He enjoyed golf and followed the Shockers, Royals and Chiefs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeanette Goodrich. He is survived by his wife, Wendy; son, Jason (Sarah); grandson, Zak; son, Donnie (Lauren); daughter, Hattie (Caitlin); and his siblings, Jerry (Jan) Aaron, Marilee (Dennis) Harper, Patty Hainline, Mike (Angela) Aaron, and Steve (Rob) Aaron.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday September 29, 2021, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3800 E. Douglas, Wichita, Kansas. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, 67219.
May Don rest in peace.
Donnie was a true blessing to this world and anyone who had the gift of knowing him. Always a huge smile, a laugh and a warm bear hug. My profound sympathy to Wendy, Jason, Donnie Jr. and Hattie. The Schlotthauer family was blessed to be related to such a loving and warm man, and he will never be forgotten, and always loved.
Fond grade school memories of this guy. So many days and nights spent at the Aaron house with Donny and Steve playing basketball in the driveway till Ms. Aaron made us quit because it was so late. Or playing on the fields at West Side and Friends. We spent so much time together. Saw Donny at last reunion 5 years ago and was really looking forward to spending more time catching up at this one coming up on Oct. 8th. My heart goes out to his wife and all his family. I know he was as good of man in his adult life as he was a friend in our adolescent years. May you Rest in Peace. Garry Monty

Donnie, we were so saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing…our deepest condolences. Gary & Toni Maycher
I just can’t believe of Don’s death. The first time I met him, I felt like I had known him all my life. He was not only an excellent exterminator, he was also a very close friend. I enjoyed his visits as much as his work. It was only a little over a week ago he and his son Jason came to my residence to spray. I broke down and cried when I read about his death in the Sunday Eagle. I offer his wife and family my deepest condolences, I know he will be deeply missed. Ed Fuhrman
Gay and I want to send our thoughts and prayers to Wendy and the family, Don was a super guy and he left way to early, we could always count on Don to run our bugs off. We will miss him. Jerry & Gay Johnsen
