Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Kathy was a beloved woman among her friends and family. She loved being from Wichita. She went to East High School then onto Wichita State where she met her husband, James B. McNerney. She then had three children: Jim, Tom, and Valerie. While raising her family, she was busy working for their Pizza Hut franchise. She was a very artistic, creative, smart, and talented woman. With her husband, she became very involved with the Shrine temple, serving as the 1st lady as the Potentate’s wife. Kathy had many friends from all walks of life. She was very close to her group of friends form high school. Kathy was a wonderful mother who would do anything for her children. She started Creative Travel Agency, opening two offices in East Wichita. Later on in her life, she would spend her winters in Palm Desert, CA, opening a business there called “The Woods.” Kathy loved to go to the casino and her children had many fond memories of time spent there. She was an avid dog lover, especially loving Bernie. Overall, Kathy was a wonderful, fun, and loving friend and mother. She will be held closely in everyone’s hearts and will be greatly missed. We are all happy that she’s in Heaven with Our Lord and Savior and that we will see her there. Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Letha Sheck. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I am an in-law and knew Kathy well. She was fun to be around and I’m so grateful to have had her in my life. She was one of the kindest and most genuine person I’ve ever met. God has a new angel but has taken a beautiful gift from earth. I will always keep her in my heart as well as her wonderful family.

  2. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to your family. I think that Kathleen, as she was then known, was the first playmate/friend to my sister and me when we moved next door to her on Bayley street. Her mother and my parents were close friends for many years. Years later, I remember visiting at my parents on a Halloween evening to show off the costume of our very young daughter. Jimmy and Mickey, also in costume, came by seeking a treat. Many fond memories of the times. We moved from Wichita over 50 years ago so have lost touch.
