I’m beyond thankful for the years I worked with Dwayne in MICU and for the many unique things he taught me, the laughs he provided and his always laid back, calm mannerism no matter what crazy event was occurring on our unit. I’ll think of you anytime I see an MG and miss our car chats! Rest east, dear friend! Jasmine Douangpraseuth
My connection to family was Cody who married into the Nie family through Emily. I only wish I had taken more time to speak to this fellow nurse when I saw him at George’s funeral. Cody is delightful and I have to believe his Dad had something to do with this. I wish you all a forever togetherness… I will be there in spirit as you celebrate this special life. Nancy Nie, married to Jim, Deanna’s brother from Madison, WI.
Dwayne and I went to grade school together at St. Margaret Mary school. We hit it off immediately because we shared the same first name. We were the only two on team Dwayne throughout grade school. I never saw Dwayne after 8th grade was over and we all went our separate ways, so my memory of him is as a twelve year old, always smiling. In 6th grade he won an award for always being happy and smiling. I had hoped to run into him someday. My condolences to the family. Dwane Lutz
Dwayne is one of my all time Favorite guys!! Loved working with him talking to him and sharing funny stories! Dwayne was one of the nicest guys and was a great nurse friend coworker and family man!! He will be greatly missed!! Hugs to you Cindy and your family!! May his memory be eternal! Cyndi Day Chapman
Dwayne was always quick to laugh but he was quick to defend any of those treated unfairly! Dwayne was always an advocate for the patients the families and his fellow nursing colleagues! What a great partner in crime he was for many many years. So sorry Cindy for your loss hold tight to your memories! Cindy Harmon
I met Dwayne many, many years ago when we both worked at Wesley. He was so very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He was a huge advocate for his patients and his staff. I had family in MICU several times and he would always stop by and check in to make sure I was doing okay. He was an excellent leader for his staff and willing to share his expertise. He also had an ornery side as well. My deepest sympathies to his family!
I knew Dwayne from our many years at Wesley. Although we didn’t work in the same units, we always bumped into each other from time to time. Whenever I floated to MICU it seemed that Dwayne was always working . He was such a reassuring sole and great source of knowledge. Whether I needed help finding something or just someone to listen to me as I thought through a decision, he was always available. On a lighter note, I bumped into him at the eye doctors office one day. We were both having our cataracts removed! I also would occasionally see him at the casino where he was much more successful than I!!! The world has one less smile. My condolences to his family. Jennifer Ream
I have had the blessing of knowing Dwayne and his family, and if all of the people of the world were like Dwayne, we, the world would be a much better place. Rest easy in God’s hands, my friend.
I lived next door to Dwayne, Cindy and their Huskey on Sycamore back in the mid 1970’s. They were such good kind neighbors. Cindy I am so sorry for you and your families loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Lorna Palmer Basinger
