Stuart Randle Collier, age 68, passed away at his home in Wichita, KS on January 10, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1954 in Junction City, KS to Eleanor and James “Jim” Collier. Growing up in Council Grove, Stuart developed a passion for running which would lead to a silver medal in the 1972 Kansas Track and Field State Championships and eventual membership on the Kansas State University Cross Country team. After graduating from K-State in 1976, Stuart obtained his law degree from the University of Kansas. A keen mind, Stuart spent many years balancing work on his farm near Alta Vista, KS with his professional pursuits, ultimately becoming a well-trusted legal counsel for numerous large firms throughout Wichita. He married Kelley Tully in 1983, and together they had three children, raising them in Wichita.He coached cross country, track, and basketball at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School where he developed long lasting friendships and positively impacted the lives of many athletes. Retiring in the past five years, he enjoyed working on household improvements and meeting with his local bible group.Stuart is survived by his three sons, Andrew Collier, Ryan Collier, and Chris Collier; as well as two siblings, Valerie Woodall (Jeff) and John Collier (Kris) and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, James Collier; mother, Eleanor Collier; and wife, Kelley Collier.A memorial service will be held at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary at 2:00 pm, on Monday, January 23, 2023.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Symphony in the Flint Hills, 331 Broadway St., Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.

    Stuart had a very positive impact on my life while coaching me in middle school cross country and track. He taught me passion and discipline and clearly poured everything he had into mentoring young men and women. I wouldn’t be who I am today without men like Stuart. I saved many of the motivational quotes that he handed out at cross country practice. God bless you and your family during this difficult time.
