Lee William Gerber, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 16, 2023, in Wichita, KS. Lee was born to the late Alvin and Catherine (DeTar) Gerber on January 31, 1950, in Fowler, KS. Lee was a proud graduate of the University of Kansas, where he earned a degree in Pharmacy. Not only did pharmacy provide him a long career of over 40 years, it also led him to find the love of his life, Margo Beyrle. They married on June 11, 1976 and went on to have 3 children. His love for his children and grandchildren was apparent in every aspect of his life, from his dedicated work ethic to his active involvement in all of their lives, which included attending many sporting events over the years. When he was not cheering for his children and grandchildren, Lee could be found hunting and fishing with family and friends. He looked forward to his annual fly fishing trips which took him to places like Mexico, Alaska, Utah, Wyoming, the Bahamas and Belize. Lee also had a unique sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He carried this trait through to his final hours. He is survived by his wife, Margo Gerber; his children, Dacy Suellentrop (David), Brett Gerber, and Ryan Gerber (Kristy); 8 grandchildren, (Lauren and Nolan Suellentrop, Brynlee and Lola Gerber, and Lillian, Landon, Greyson and Aiden Gerber); his three brothers, Chuck Gerber (Connie), Dave Gerber (Dina) and Larry Gerber; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of his loved ones. Rosary will be at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, July 19th, 2023. Catholic Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 20th, 2023. All services will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, KS. Memorials have been established with: American Red Cross - Midway Kansas Chapter, 707 North Main, Wichita, KS 67203 and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, 1100 Southwest Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67215. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our thoughts go out to your family. Lee always had a smile and a funny way of looking at life. We will miss him. Tim and Carolyn Means

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with Margo and all the family at this time of great loss. I was too young to know Lee very well at the time he graduated and left Fowler, but I have always heard great words about him shared by my parents, siblings and others in the community. And his posts shared on Facebook were always wonderful! May God’s promise of the resurrection and eternal life comfort you all!

  3. In my younger years, I spent many an hour with Lee in our small town. We always had the most fun, with the freedom a small town allows. As an adult, you’d be hard pressed to find a more caring, gentle person. I know the sadness that his loss will bring to all the many people who knew and loved him. And I’m sure he will be remembered fondly by many, for years to come. He left behind so many good memories for so many people to hold on to, in their hearts and minds.

    • Lee was a childhood friend and schoolmate. We were in boy scouts together and went on many camping trips. I even subbed for him on his newspaper rout when he and the family went on vacation. Remember him riding all over town on his Cushman scooter. My prayers to Margo and the family. May Lee rest in the comfort of the Lord. Steve Dewell and wife Judy

  4. Thinking of Lee will always bring back fond memories of his humor and great spirit for life.
Lighting a firecracker behind me as I laid on the floor watching a football game was a memory I will never forget. He will be missed, so sorry for your loss.

  5. My deepest condolences to Margo and family. Lee was such a friendly and professional presence at my dad’s pharmacy. May you be comforted by great memories.

  6. I always enjoyed our FB visits and when he mentioned my grandparents cafe in Fowler. Lee was very comforting to me when my father passed away. Prayers to the family.

  7. No life he entered could help but be improved by his entering it. Including mine. A better employer I never had and a nicer man I never met. Or will. He will be both missed terribly and remembered fondly. Thanks for everything, Boss. And Godspeed.

  8. We are so sorry for your loss. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We will pray our family rosary for Lee and your family. Lee had such a positive outlook and we loved his laugh. Take care and God’s blessings.

    Jan and Paul Harding

  9. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Margo & family. Growing up with Lee and sharing the
same birthday in the same hospital, I have many memories of all the things we have
shared over the years. Lee was always smiling and had such a wonderful laugh.
He will always be in my thoughts, especially on January 31st. Rest in peace my friend.

    Van Sims
