When Leslie and I graduated from Wichita Heights in 1963, we traveled to Colorado. We took brother Johns brand new 1963 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport which he kindly let us use. We had a great time even toured the Coors Beer factory. We came back with the car like new. Thank you John!
Leslie often help me at my family farm with our dairy cattle. One summer day in 1962, we took a 2 ton truck load of heifers to a pasture. There was no cattle trailers in those days. I stopped at a stop sign. When I made a left turn the heifers shifted to the left side of the truck bed and the truck turned over on its left side. Leslie turned and braced herself between me and the right door. She was not hurt. I was knocked out and my head cut on the side. And the heifers went running everywhere.
A couple years ago, Leslie told me she really enjoyed helping me with my cows, inspite of turning over a 2 ton truckload of heifers.
Leslie was a wonderful person and I’m so glad she was my friend. Her courage to live life at its best was amazing.
Our birthdays were 2 days apart. It made sure I remembered her with a card. I will always remember her.
