At the age of 62, after a long hard fight with cancer, Brenda “BB” Diane Brown Schneider, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Brenda was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, coach, and so much more. In the time Brenda was here on Earth, she was one of the strongest and smartest women anyone would ever come across. She was always helping others, guiding those who needed guidance, fixing anything that came her away, coaching in all aspects, and building others up. She was an all-star athlete and specifically loved the game of softball and basketball. She instilled the love of sports to her daughter and granddaughters. She was part of many teams that went on to do great things, including none other than the McPherson Charolais Queens. Brenda was a best friend to her daughter and granddaughters. She was a dog lover and left behind one of her many pets that stayed with her till the end. Brenda was the hardest worker and completed her career as a Senior Manager of Distribution for Hanes. She was incredibly loved and cherished and she will be missed and remembered by all who crossed her path. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Alvie Brown; brother, Danny Joe McDowell. Brenda was survived by her daughter, Darcy (Jonathan) Holcomb; granddaughters, Kennedi Diane Baker and Hadli Marie Baker; mother, Marjorie Ann Brown; brothers, Aaron (Kimberly) Kelstone, Tim Brown, Clay (Diana) Brown, and sisters, Connie (Mack) Bowden, Gayle (Courtney) Wigfall; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, family, teammates, and cherished friends. 1. Darcy, I am so sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. Brenda was such a knowledgeable and caring coach. I have so many great memories of the hours well spent following the Boltz. Two particular memories come to mind: the trip to Joplin, Missouri for district qualifieds and the fun we had with water balloon fights, and being at the Lake Shawnee ball field the morning she learned Roy was leaving KU for North Carolina. She was so devastated! Your mom was so generous and willing to share both her knowledge base as well as her love ❤️ of softball. We were so lucky to know her! Thank you for sharing her passion for sports with your daughters.. her spirit will always live on through them. Hugs!

    • Our Children and the Brown Children grew up in Hope together, and we all spent many hours with them. Brenda was the one that approached our Daughter Angie first after we moved to Hope. And a Friendship was born ! The rest of the Family followed including their Mom and Dad. May she rest in Piece. Floyd & Gisela Pauley

  2. To me, BB is more than the sum of all of our memories together. She lives deep in my heart, and will always be a part of me. The time we had together was a privilege and she did more for me than I could ever do for her. So much more could be spoken of the depth of her insight and the size of her heart.

  3. Brenda was strong. Brenda was gritty. Brenda was determined…and Brenda was a stubborn pain in the butt.

More than anything, Brenda was a fighter. She fought hard for her people. She fought hard on issues she believed in. She fought hard to change people’s opinion.

Brenda never backed down from a challenge. She excelled at helping others discover what they were capable of…and she knew how to rock a puffy short sleeve vest.

So, if there was ever any human that I would bet money on to defy all the odds in fighting off cancer…to go the full 12 rounds … taking blow after blow… getting back up…looking her opponent right in the eyes and saying “is that the best you got”…..I’d bet on Brenda…every time.

At the end of the day, Brenda is inspiring.

    Thank you, Brenda.

  4. When I first started working for Brenda at GTM I was terrified of her. She was so tough. But her toughness grew on me and I realized underneath that tough exterior how much compassion she has for those that she cares about. I always joked when she was around it was because I saw her holding a baby and the joy on her face broke my fear. Working for her for so many years shaped so many parts of me-I am forever grateful for the lessons she shared with me. She was such a force or nature- she will surely the missed. – Christina Thompson Schultze

  5. Brenda, meant so much to me, the time I worked with her forever changed the lens through which I viewed the world. She was one of the best people, mentor, boss. This news saddened my heart. Love to her friends and family. -Lee Johnson
