Michael Kendrick Womack

July 26, 1962 ~ March 30, 2024
Michael Kendrick Womack, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Colwich, Kansas on March 30, 2024. He was born on July 26,1962 in Clinton, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by his father, Leland Womack of Sentinel, OK, his brothers: Brad (Suzy) Womack of Amarillo, TX, and Matt (Jamie) Womack of Murdock, KS and sister-in-law, Cindy (Edward) Pride of Mill Creek, WA. Michael was a beloved Papa to Kimber Donahue, Keaston Wells, Kaylen Wells, Maison Szager, Emilee Szager, Colin Bybee, Beau Bybee, Sofia Bybee, Ayvah Nunnelley, Emma Nunnelley, Noah Nunnelley, and Micah Nunnelley. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Pat Womack, his in-laws, Edwin and Nancy Smith, his grandparents, Oran and Della Dewbre, Robert and Anice Womack, and a grandson, Mark David Bybee.
Michael’s love of sports began at an early age when he played basketball and baseball while attending junior high and eventually graduating from Sentinel High School in 1980. He also enjoyed playing football and golf. Some of his happiest moments were when he both coached his kids’ and grandkids’ various sports teams or was cheering them on from the stands. Michael was a passionate fan of the OU Sooners football program to say the least, and if you ever had the privilege to catch a game on TV in his company, you would feel like you were at the game in person.
Early in his adult life, Michael realized his talent for working with his hands and building relationships with people, so what better career than that of residential construction. He began working at Star Lumber installing fireplaces, windows, and storm doors. From there he moved to Robl Construction as a construction supervisor where he took on the role of managing everything from the foundation to rooftop with a “boots on the ground” approach. This quickly earned him respect from not only those in his tutelage, but with buyers as well, so much so, that he eventually opened his own construction business, Womack Homes. These work experiences eventually led him to U Build It, where as a construction consultant he seamlessly combined his love of construction with his love of people.
It’s true, Michael loved sports and his work, but more than anything he loved his God and his family, and that was evident in both his words and actions. He was firm yet tender, tough but gentle, and he lived life to the absolute fullest up to the very end. Keenly intuitive, he could draw out the best in people, always leaving them a better person than they were before. He completed every task with vigor and gratitude. His life was a living testament to perseverance and grit. Because of his strength, we are strong. Michael was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and papa, and he will be incredibly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor Michael’s life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at Northside Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Know Your Bible, c/o Northside Church of Christ, 4545 N. One of my favorite memories of Dad was when I was a young boy after it would rain he would take me with him to go check on the houses to make sure the sump was working. Or if it was at basement stage we would put a pump in to get the water out. The talks we had about life are unforgettable. Thanks for being such an inspiration to me and my children. Love you and gonna miss you terribly.
My heart is with all his family. God’s comfort and blessings on you all . We will see him one day on those celestial shores. He is already with his mamma and his King. He always made me laugh. He had the quickest wit of any human I ever met. God speed Miguel.
I remember how we laughed, cried & joked & smoked on the garage stoop. I remember his love of kids & sports & teaching them how to play ball. I have missed his beautiful smile & caring spirit. May the Lord bring peace & comfort to ALL who knew him.
Love…Carol
