Patty was born in Anadarko, OK to her parents, Bennie Guydelkon and JoElla Lafferty (Bobb). Patty was proud to be Native American and to share her Kiowa, Delaware, and Apache heritage. She later moved to the Wichita, KS area with her family.
Patty reminisced many times about her childhood. She told stories about her family and especially her grandmother, Minnie Violet (Walton) Bobb and grandfather, William H Bobb. Patty met many people throughout her life, but she had a few very close friends that lasted many years. Her long-time childhood friend, Bertie Martin (passed) created many beautiful and funny memories. Her friend, Connie Waller shared memories of time she spent with Patty going on vacations, having date nights and going out to dinner many times a month, which she loved. Carolyn Crab, her cousin who she grew up with, was also a close friend and had many great times, staying up all night playing the family dice game.
Patty retired after 32 years of service from Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS. During her time of service at Beech, she took a break and became an over-the-road truck driver with her husband, Lyle Kenneth Hibbert. Kenny and Patty enjoyed vacations and loved spending time with the family. Patty was known for always dressing to the “T” and known for her keen shopping skills. She always found the good deals and loved buying clothes for her kids and grandkids. Nobody ever went without. Patty also enjoyed attending Pow Wows and listening to the drumbeats. She spent many late nights traveling to and from pow wows and dancing around the drum. Patty (Mom, Nanny, Grandma) was very proud of her family and loved each one of them. From her children, grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids. She had two things she hoped for all of them. Number one was for all of them to know Jesus Christ and to accept him as their Lord and Savior. Secondly, that each of them knows about their Native American heritage. She loved all her family and friends. Families are like branches on a tree; we grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.
A Celebration of life will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Graveside services will follow the service at Andover Cemetery, Andover, KS.
