I remember meeting this beautiful lady in the elevator at St. Francis hospital. I saw her again when I went to her house to pick her daughter up for a date. We went out on our own dates often. I remember the times we sat in Chi Chi’s drinking margaritas waiting for Paula to get off work so she could join us. Kenny and she had the grandest time when they came to Scottsdale to surprise Paula with a new car. The Haverkamp’s had so many great times going on trips with her. We loved having her come to our home for visits to our children and more recently our grandchildren. I never knew a mother-in-law could be loved so much! We understand that it was your time Alberta, but we are still going to miss all the occasions you shared with us. Rest in Peace!
Alberta will surely be missed by her family and loved ones. Our hearts go out to you. We will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
In our thoughts and prayers.
Growing up, some of my best memories were the sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. I was always sure to pack my “Sunday go to meeting” clothes. Their pool was like an oasis. Grandpa wading in the shallow end with me, Grandma sitting nearby. Their yard and the neighborhood around it was my summer playground. Mornings were always special with Grandma making pancakes, bacon, and eggs before I was out of bed.
After Grandpa passed and I got older we talked often of him, we bonded over basketball and our love for KU. We’d sit around the kitchen island and chat about which players needed to get “better”.
When I moved away, I made sure to visit every time I came home. We’d go to breakfast or lunch, and when you moved to the Dove you proudly introduce me, my wife, and our boys to your friends, although it was my boys who garnered your attention then. She and my boys were cut from the same cloth—just as ornery, always giving each other a hard time, and loving every second of it. She was one of a kind, and her spirit lives on in every fond memory I carry forward. I’m sorry I can’t be there for your final celebration but we send our love to you and all my aunts and uncles.
John McGreevy- Mom, there are numerous memories I recall in my childhood. First on Arkansas St and then the final home on Pleasant View. You and Dad worked tirelessly to support 8 children. You would get up early in the morning to fix breakfast for us, and rush off to work for your 7:00 am job at St Francis Hospital. You always made sure we had what we needed, clothing, Dr Appointment, Dental Appointments, lunches to eat on trips to EMLEN Cabin, and so much more. I cherished every trips to the farm in Beloit. In particular to spend Christmas. I believe this truly was the time I saw you most relaxed. You were a super Mom. Your encouragement and support made me who I am today, and help me in my family life. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me. You know how much I love you. Say hello to Dad. I’ll miss our conversations, Lunches l, breakfast and time we spent together at The Dove. I’m sad I was unable to attend your cast off to heaven. Although, I know you are proud for the reason I couldn’t attend.
Your Son, John
Our sincere sympathy to each and every one of you. You were so blessed to have her as a Mother, Grandmother, Nurse and Friend. May the peace of the Lord be with each of you and remain in your heart as loving memories forever. Our Love and Prayers.
