Joseph Allen Marnell

Joseph Allen Marnell, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on June 12, 2025, at the age of 42, in Ozark, Missouri. Born on September 12, 1982, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mark Marnell, Joseph’s life was a testament to his selfless, funny, and loving nature.

Joseph, affectionately known by those close to him as Joe, was a proud graduate of Wichita Southeast High School, class of 2001. His passion for creativity and design led him to the Xenon International School of Hair Design, from which he graduated in 2004. Joseph’s thirst for knowledge and skill didn’t stop there; he joined his father in the family business, mastering the trade and earning a Journeyman irrigation certificate and a Kansas PHCCA Backflow Tester certification.

In search of new opportunities, Joseph moved to Ozark, MO, where he began working at Kum & Go. His work ethic and leadership qualities shone through as he quickly ascended to the role of General Manager, revitalizing stores with his keen eye for organization and efficiency. Joseph’s ability to connect with people was unmatched, and he took great pride in creating a welcoming space for customers and employees alike.

Beyond his professional life, Joseph was a devoted Christian who lived his faith through his actions every day. He found strength and solace in his beliefs, which guided him in his journey through life.

Joseph’s greatest joy was his family. He and his beloved wife, Bonnie, along with their daughter, Rylee, formed an inseparable trio. Together, they shared a love for board games, igniting laughter and creating cherished memories around the table with friends and extended family. Joseph’s love for adventure extended beyond the home; he, Bonnie, and Rylee often embarked on outdoor explorations, hiking, kayaking, and soaking in the beauty of nature.

A craftsman at heart, Joseph made numerous improvements to their family home, always eager to tackle the next project. His ability to transform raw materials into something beautiful and functional was a skill admired by all who knew him.

Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Rylee Marnell-Ball; father, Mark; brother, Kirk; sister, Amanda Heather; grandparents, Ronald and Lyn Marnell; aunt, Stephanie Marnell; and his nieces and nephews, Alex, Brock, Isobel, Audrie, Addi Mae, Rayden, and Hudson.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… to leave the world a bit better… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Joseph embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.

Joseph’s life was a beacon of joy and service to others, and while his departure from this world is deeply felt, the memories and love he shared will forever be treasured by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. His spirit, characterized by his selflessness, humor, and love, will continue to inspire and guide us. Though we mourn the loss of Joseph Allen Marnell, we also celebrate a life well-lived—a life that truly succeeded in making a difference.
