    • We will miss you, Mr. Adamson. Your passion for history, your dedication to teaching, and the way you made the past feel alive will never be forgotten. You didn’t just teach us about events and dates—you taught us to think deeply, ask questions, and understand the world around us. Your classroom was a place of curiosity, respect, and inspiration, and your impact will stay with us long after we’ve left it. Thank you for everything—you truly made a difference.

  1. Mr. Adamson was one of my favorite teachers at Heights. He had both of my parents as students also in the mid 70’s, a unique experience for our families. I always appreciated his smile and enthusiasm for teaching government. My heart is heavy, but I still remember the joy he brought to learning and his impact will last lifetimes. Thoughts and prayers.

  2. Mr. Adamson was a great teacher. Thoughts and prayers to his family as they learn to navigate life without him.

  3. To the family of Mr. Adamson,
My sincere condolences to all of you. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Mr. Adamson was my Social Studies teacher at Heights High back in 1977-1979. I remember him as being a wonderful teacher. Social studies, and culture were my favorite subjects and he made my learning fun. He always provided encouragement and I will never forget the impact he made on me. As I am certain he impacted others as well.
I am a paraeducator and I only hope I can make an impact on my students as he did me. I am so happy to see that his son is teaching as well. Teaching is good for the soul. Again my sincere condolences. May God bless you. May he provide you all comfort and strength. May you know that he touched many lives.

  4. Mr Adamson was an amazing teacher. To this day I can still recall some of his gems. Class ’85

  5. I still remember Pat and my husband Phil reminiscing about going to harvest together! Pat, I’m sure you and Phil will have lots to talk about!

  6. Neil and Noel, I am so sorry to learn of your dad’s passing. Your parents were the breath of fresh air and friendship my folks, Harold & Ruth Grabill, had hoped to find when they bought their first home in Wichita. They had come from the farm to the “big city” and were concerned that it would be hard to make new friends and recover a sense of community. However, I’m sure all those fears quickly melted away the first time Pat & Joyce ventured across the street, knocked on the door of 711 Crestline and welcomed my folks to the neighborhood. I’ve always been grateful their friendship with my parents continued to blossom over the years.

I had a great many Pat and Joyce encounters of my own, having spent summers during college and a couple years after in the Crestline house. Surprisingly, I just realized I can actually recall the sound of both their voices. I can hear your mom telling my mom and me about trips to Beloit, her day at Yellow Freight or how one of her latest new recipes turned out. And I can hear your dad’s voice start a characteristic slow and steady lead in to a story … then pivoting either to a joke or to a tale of one of his teaching experiences with a particularly challenging student. Those stories always resulted in a critical life lesson he was eager to implant in my brain. Pat Adamson had a way of making a mark on me. Though I wasn’t actually his student, he treated me like I was. As a result I have no doubt I’ve been a better critical thinker and held truer to my beliefs than I likely would have had I never crossed paths with your dad.

But then, Neil and Noel, you two were born and quickly became the favorite subjects for both Pat’s & Joyce’s stories. Absolutely nothing in the world made Joyce more happy or Pat more proud than the two of you. I hope hearing that truth will bring you some comfort.

  7. Pat, also Joyce had been my neighbors for the past 30 years. I will truly miss visiting with my friend in the yard, during his walks. I fear nothing will be the same now, in the hood. So much sympathy 💐 to Neil, Noel and family.

  8. To Neil and family I am so sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing he was a great story teller and was always entertaining to be around in conversations, he will be missed !
    RIP Pat

  9. What a beautiful human being. We loved when he stopped by to chat on his walks with Riley. He touched the lives of all of us in a joyful way. Truly he will be missed.

  10. Rip Mr Adamson. I will never forget when I ran into you and your wife about 12 years ago. I saw you and went to your table and said are you Mr Adamson and you said yes I am. I proceeded to tell you that you were my geography teacher and you told a not so appropriate joke in class that I never forgot and still tell to this day. You had a laugh and said well I sure hope I didn’t get you in any trouble. I went back to my table and about 20 minutes you found me and you had your wife with you. You said I’m sorry but I didn’t introduce you to my wife and then of course you did. I never forgot that. You were always one of my favorite teachers but at that point I saw you as the sweetest man ever and a loving and respectful husband. Fly high Mr A

  11. Mr. Adamson was one of my favorite teachers at Heights High School. He taught me World Geography and to this day I can still draw an equator on a map using the landmarks he taught me. He will be missed greatly!

  12. Pat was a kind and compassionate man who offered understanding of my situation. He stopped often with Riley and always asked about my husband who is in Hospice at home. He will surely be missed for his kindness. Praying for comfort and peace for his family. I’ll never forget.

  13. We met Pat Adamson when his son Neil married our daughter Jaclyn. It was a blending of New York and Wichita in the nicest way. We shared the role of parents and grandparents together and learned about the heart of America through Pat with his captivating stories.
His care and devotion to his wife Joyce
will always be in our minds and his role as father and grandfather will not be forgotten .
Rest in Peace and watch over all of us🙏.

  14. “Mr. Pat” and Riley were the first to greet us when we moved in down the street last year. He loved his neighbors well!
    The Bishops

  15. We moved into the neighborhood 29 years ago, and are so blessed to have had Pat and Joyce as neighbors! They have left an indelible mark on us through their friendship and the many stories of travels, their sons and extended families, of whom they were so proud. I spent much time with Pat after Joyce passed as we would talk for hours sometimes ending his evening walk before it ever got started! So many stories, good-natured jabs and laughs, we talked about everything and he knew how everyone in the neighborhood was doing.
We’d get visits from Pat’s dog Ozzie, and later Riley, and knew Pat was soon to follow. They somehow had the same gregarious nature as Pat! I don’t know that I, or anyone else for that matter, has ever met a man quite like Pat. His friendships were long-lasting and cherished. He will be missed.
To the family, May God bless you
    with comfort and wonderful memories!

  16. Pat was a great man and wonderful neighbor. He was the first to introduce us to the neighborhood and the city when we arrived. He made us feel welcome and was always willing to help and check in on us. I’ll sincerely miss running into him while we both walked our dogs in the mornings, or catching each other in the driveway to chat. He frequently caught us up on stories about his sons and grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He will be sorely missed by all.

  17. Dear Neil and Noel,
I am sorry for your loss. I will be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers as you move forward. I have cherished memories of my time living on Crestline and of your family.
    Blessings,
    Lei Sensibaugh

  18. Pat was the big neighbor hood guy anyone could call on if we needed anything. So patient and caring and helpful at all times. So very funny and compassionate about life was strong convictions of doing good. He will be missed by so many. I really enjoyed a ride about in the evenings and his white truck with Riley. I will miss him deeply.
