Cynthia Ann Farnham passed away on March 12, 2026, in Wichita, KS from metastatic breast cancer. She was 86.
Born on November 2, 1939, in Ava, MO to Benjamin and Elda Mae (Norman) Callaway, Cindy enjoyed an idyllic childhood filled with laughter, love, and family in this quaint, sylvan Ozark town. A can of paint transformed the lower level of the family home into “Cindy’s Cellar,” the hangout spot for classmates and friends where lifelong memories were made.
Following graduation from Ava Senior High School, Cindy enrolled at the University of Missouri where she joined the Tri Delta sorority and majored in English. Her love of literature and a good book were constant throughout her life, a passion she passed on to her two sons.
Upon graduation in 1961, Cindy embarked on a tour of Europe that sparked a lasting enthusiasm for travel. She made many international trips with family and good friends over the years and had a particular fondness for Scotland. Despite her wanderlust, Cindy was just as content to spend time at home and take in the glorious sunsets from the back deck.
On September 3, 1961, Cindy was united in marriage to Arthur Farnham, whom she first met at the tender age of two years old! It was a union built on love for these best friends. Art’s career took them first to St. Louis, MO where they welcomed their first son David. They would later relocate to Wichita, KS to join Art’s parents where they had a second son, John, and for Art to embark on a 52-year career at Piping & Equipment Co. taking over the Presidency role from his father.
Cindy was active in many charitable and social organizations in Wichita, including continuing engagement with the Wichita State University chapter of the Tri Delta sorority. She was especially proud of her participation in the committee that oversaw the construction of the new Tri Delta house. She was also a 65-year member of Chapter I-EW of P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she served in various executive roles. Additionally, Cindy was active in many book clubs throughout the years and, with her husband Art, participated in a couple’s bridge club that met routinely for many decades. She cherished her many close friends she made through these organizations.
Hers was a life well lived, blessed with family, life-long friends, and meaningful purpose.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Benjamin (aka Mac); her brother, Robert Crain; brother and sister-in-law Stan and Mary Farnham; nephew, Mark Corrodi; sisters-in-law, Patricia Corrodi, Jo Callaway and Dolores Crain; and in-laws Romeyn and Lou Farnham.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur of 64 years; son, David (Debbie); son, John (William Glass); grandson, Gabe (Erin) Parham; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Blake, and Beckett; brother-in-law, Homer Corrodi; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Center of Kansas, Wichita Home Healthcare & Hospice as well as Visiting Angels for the care they provided during Cindy’s final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held later. Details of this event will be forthcoming.
