Celebrating the life of Ada Marguerite Rasmussen. Marguerite passed away on Saturday November 22, 2025, after battling Alzheimer’s disease. Born July 22, 1942, in Independence, Kansas, Marguerite grew up on a farm near Longton, Kansas, in a family of seven children. She called many places home over the years, but with her husband Wayne, Pratt, Kansas and later Benton, Kansas truly became home. She treasured her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, Jack and Isabelle, and her daughter Laurie. She was a beacon of kindness, gentleness, and care and was considered a friend to all who knew her.

Marguerite dedicated more than 30 years of her life to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her educational journey was extensive and impactful, having earned both a High School Diploma and associates degree from Friends Bible College and Academy, a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State College in Alva, OK, and a master’s degree from Emporia State University. Her commitment to education was highlighted when she was honorably named the Skyline Schools Teacher of the Year in 1996.

Marguerite loved to quilt. She was an active member of the Apple Patch Quilt Group and the local Quilt Guild. Some of her most joyful times were quilting with friends and family, hosting Apple Patch quilting get togethers, and sharing her beautiful quilts with others.

Marguerite’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie McHenry; stepchildren, Crystol Aubert (Lynn), Troy Rasmussen (Stacey), and Roger Rasmussen; grandchildren, Jack McHenry, Isabelle McHenry, and step-grandchildren, Micah Aubert (Jessica), Marquee Kuzdzal (Nate), Montana DeWeese (Dallas), McKenna Kitchens (Matthew), and Mahogany Rasmussen. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Murphy, Faith Huddle, and Maradean Phinney who will miss her dearly. Those who knew Marguerite will fondly recall how she gave with her whole heart and how she lived as an incredible mom, grandma, devoted sister, aunt, and a true friend.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vada Kimzey; her beloved husband, Wayne Rasmussen; and her siblings, David Kimzey, Janet Hadlock, and Kevin Kimzey.

Marguerite’s life was a testament to her faith and a profound ability to love and nurture those around her. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and education will continue to influence and inspire. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to have known her.
