Albert “Al” M. Kerschen, 75, went to his eternal rest on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Al was proud to serve as a United States Marine from 1956 through 1959. He was the owner of Kerschen Enterprises. Al was born on June 13, 1938 in Garden Plain, Kansas. He was married to his loving wife, Marilyn (Stockemer) Kerschen for 56 years. Rosary, 7 p.m., Sunday, March 2; Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Monday, March 3, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gertrude (Strunk) Kerschen; children, Keith and Pamela Kerschen; grandchildren, James, Joseph and Michelle Ast; brothers, Melvin, Jerome and James Kerschen, and sister, Marlene McClure. Survivors: wife, Marilyn; sons, Mark Kerschen (Pam) of Hutchinson, Alan Kerschen (Anita) of Hemet, CA, Kelly Kerschen of Wichita; daughters, Joan Ast (Greg) of Westminster, CO, Diane Zelmer (Bobby) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brothers, Leon Kerschen (Dorothy) of Garden Plain, Jerome Kerschen of Wichita; sisters, Sally Bogner of Haven, Cathy Murphy (Bob) of Garden Plain; grandchildren, Brandon, Janelle and Ashley Ast, Shane, Shawn and Kayla Kerschen, Krista Torres, Amber Avila, Heather Carbajo and Kevin Kerschen; 8 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Victory In The Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67218 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
