January 22, 1930 June 7, 2018. Funeral Service at 11a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West Chapel, 10515 W. Maple. Alex was born in Argyle, WI to Edmund and Mildred Erickson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and graduated with a mining degree from the University of Wisconsin. He worked as a petroleum engineer in Canada, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Kansas. He developed an enhanced oil recovery process used by petroleum companies throughout the country. Alex was a past president of the Petroleum Club in Wichita. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Tim (Diana) Erickson of Durango, CO, Alexander Erickson, Jr. of Argyle, WI; stepsons, Don Bush of Wichita, Tim (Robin) Bush of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Shelley (Mark) Masterson, Leslie Cain of Nashville, TN; stepdaughters, Cathy Bush of Houston, TX, Laura (Dave) Kalitta of Belle Plaine, KS; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred Erickson, Robert Erickson, Jeff Williams; sisters, Gretchen (Tom) Resan, Janet Reimer; and best friend, Buddy, his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents; Phyllis Teehan Erickson; brothers, Calvin Erickson, Duane Erickson, Ed Erickson, John Williams; and sister, Marian Reininger. Alex, always a gentleman, was known for his generosity and ever present twinkle in his eye. He was loved by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and Driftless Area Land Conservancy, 206 S. Iowa Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533.
Although I didnt know Alex before he became ill, I enjoyed him the few times we met at church. He had a sweet spirit which seemed to remain even though his challenges increased. Thinking of you and yours, Mary.
