Alfred A. Favero
July 20, 2014
Favero, Alfred A., age 77, of Coral Springs, FL, passed away on Sunday, 7/20/2014 at his home in Easley, SC. He was born in Buffalo, NY on 5/9/1937. His family moved to Wichita, KS in 1946. Alfred, also referred to as Al in his early years, and professionally as Fred, graduated from West High School, in Wichita, KS in 1955, Wichita State University in 1964, with a Degree in Business Administration. He went on to receive his Masters Degree from George Washington University in 1970. He was married to Phyllis Ann Selenke on June 6, 1964 in Wichita, KS. Son of Carolina DelSecco Favero and Ernesto Favero of Wichita, KS. He served in our military from 1957 to 1959 with the Army, and was proud to do so! His professional career as a CFO was with Westinghouse for over 30 years. His upward rise with Westinghouse took his family to many locations: Baltimore, MD, Vienna, VA, Monroeville, PA, Coral Springs, FL, Wexford, PA and Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He enjoyed helping his two daughters, Pam and Jan, and was a constant source of optimism for them. His uncanny ability to cut through the nonsense, and keep them on task was a strength they both cherish and appreciated! He was an avid runner (Rocky was the rage and inspired him to hit the pavement or beach on a daily basis, with his daughter Pam in tow). He also enjoyed tinkering endlessly in his garage with his woodworking tools, and was known to bring them with him when he went to visit his daughters, and fix whatever they needed. His true love was his wife Phyllis, family and extended family called friends. His door was always open, constant visits, extended stays from family in need, and friends! His children learned this valuable lesson and continue to follow in his footsteps. People always commented, and remember his big, contagious smile, hearty laugh and confidence and love of family. He recently told his wife and girls, I had a good life, traveled to nice places and lived in nice houses. Not much was left unsaid. You always knew you were loved unconditionally and he was proud of who you were and your accomplishments. He will be missed! He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. Favero; daughters, Pamela Favero Mills, and Janet Ann Stauffer and son-in-law, Steven Stauffer; grandchildren, Brooke and Madison Mills; brother, Roger Favero; sister, Odilla McCool. Preceded in death by his parents, Carolina DelSecco Favero and Ernesto Favero. Viewing and Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 25, 2014; Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 26, 2014, both at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover, KS.
